Fandom Crossover

hilsA thought occurred to me while I was on the train yesterday
Castiel = Spike
Both characters were originally only contracted for a few episodes but proved so popular with the fans that they were brought back and made major players in the show. Think of Spike in S4 where he didn't really have much to do but be snarky (until right at the end where he joined up with Adam). See Cas in S5 of SPN.
I won't say that Spike falling in love with Buffy in S5 of BtVS means that Cas will fall in love with Dean in S6 of SPN but I do think that if Cas is a regular in the next season it will mean a better plot for him. I'm hopeful anyway.
And of course BtVS had Buffy/Angel shippers vs Buffy/Spike shippers
SPN has Dean/Sam shippers vs Dean/Cas shippers
I'm just saying.
Only now I'm imagining Cas/Spike...
