May. 22nd, 2010 06:42 pmI've got free virtual gifts to give out but I've only got five. How am I supposed to decide who to give them to out of all you wonderful people?
Just got back from seeing Robin Hood
It was okay. I probably wouldn't have bothered watching it on my own but it's what dad wanted to see for his birthday. My main problems were it were these:
Robin's backstory. I get that they tried to use what little history is known but the whole thing with Robin's father and the charter made no sense to me as did his father conveniently knowing Marion's father
The love story. It seemed to sort of come out of nowhere. I got the attraction between them but one minute they're slowly growing to like each other and the next he's declaring his love for her
Marion. I love Cate Blanchett a lot but her accent was a bit iffy. One minute she sounded like Galadriel and the next like she'd come from a mining village in Yorkshire. I liked her character for the most part but I was a bit disappointed that when she went after the man who killed Walter she lasted three seconds and then had to be rescued by Robin and carried away.
The ending. Of course we all knew King John was going to go back on his word about the charter but I don't get why the people of England didn't stand up to him like they were about to before the big battle. And Robin being declared an outlaw because the people preferred him to the king seemed a little far fetched. I dunno.
It was enjoyable enough but I won't watch it again or get the DVD
