More from Pierrefonds

SPOILER WARNING: We did see them filming while we were there. My report contains details of what we saw and there are a couple of photos of Bradley and the sets they had set up. These are not massive spoilers. We only saw them filming very short segments and it's impossible to tell the plot from what we saw, but if you're really spoilerphobic I would avoid these posts. Oh, and there's also a guest star spoiler

This is the room that had the porcupine walls

I'm sure you all recognise this room

We found some windows that looked down onto the village set so I was able to take some sneaky photos

One of our favourite parts of the inside of the castle was the crypt. They had weird disco lights and strange music playing. I totally geeked out and watched the beginning of Excalibur on my iPod so I could work out which tomb they used for Tristan Du Bois. And I found it!

We went for some lunch after checking that we'd be able to come back into the castle with our tickets and when we were heading back we saw Camelot knights! It was very exciting.

Knight!

When we got back to the main entrance there was a group of people in costume standing on the drawbridge area. At first I thought it was just extras and then I spotted Colin. Had to run over and tell the others who had missed him and really had to resist the urge to yell 'IT'S COLIN' at them. LOL!

He was wearing Merlin's brown jacket with a blue neckerchief and blue shirt. Naturally we decided to sit and watch for a while.

There was another man there, who I thought I recognised, and I think he was playing villain of the week. The big, black leather coat sort of gave it away. [livejournal.com profile] yavannauk eventually identified him as Richard Ridings (Silas from the Highlander series amongst other things. IMDB him).

It was hard to tell what was going on because they filmed the same thirty second segment about ten times. The basic gist appeared to be guards searching people as they tried to leave the city. We watched him for about and hour and it became obvious to me why everyone thinks Colin is the sweet one. It's because he totally is.

He was all smiles and I saw him greet one of the members of the crew and shake his hand and have a chat. He also posed for photos with a few people who were sitting closer to him than we were, which he totally didn't have to do especially since he was working. He just came accross as a really nice man.

After a while we decided to see if anything was going on in the medieval village set so we headed back into the castle and to the windows we'd been at earlier. Bradley was there. He was wearing a dark red shirt and brown trousers and appeared to be shouting at some knights who were holding down an old man. Molesting peasants definitely seemed to be the theme for the filming we saw.

At one point he must have heard us because he looked up to where we were watching. Then, a few minutes later he started practising sword moves with a wooden stick (much like the one used in Lancelot). It was hot and awesome.

I did snap a few sneaky photos of Bradley but I didn't want to take any of Colin as there were loads of crew around and I didn't want to get into trouble.

Bradley filming

He's so pretty even from the back

Since we were quite far away from Bradley and there was nowhere to sit we decided to go back and watch Colin some more. He was filming another scene this time where he was carrying a strange looking round and flat object. We spent ages trying to work out what it was and eventually decided it was bread. We will be looking out for bread and molested peasants when series 2 starts.

Colin's final scene before we had to leave was behind a wall so we couldn't see him. That was sad. We went back to where Bradley was filming (and we had to go up loads of steps. He made us suffer on this trip!) but he was done filming and had gone.

It was an amazing day though. We saw Camelot, Arthur and Merlin. What more could you ask?
