The Con - Day 1 - Hils in love

hilsI'm so glad I did this. It's been worth every penny
Got to the con at about 8am and waited around outside for the door to open. Chatted for a bit with two lovely ladies in the queue next to me. The con people came around after a while and gave free PotC coins to everyone near the front of the queue. Shiny!
When the doors opened we all got given a piece of Halle Berry's costume from X Men. Shiny!
I went straight to Elijah Woods queue to get a virtual ticket. I was number 379 which wasn't bad at all since I later learned it went up to 1000. Went and got a virtual ticket for Nathan, Carrie and on the spur of the moment Alan Tudyk too. I then learned that Carrie wasn't allowing anyone to be photographed with her so there was no way I was going to pay £25 (more than Elijah!) for just a signature so I decided to go with Alan instead. So glad I did!
Anyway, I decided to go and have some lunch while I waited for my numbers to come up and by the time I'd done that and wandered around the stalls for a bit then it was time to get my photo taken with Elijah. Because I'm anal about being early for things I was right near the front of the queue so I didn't have to wait for too long. It wasn't much of an experience because obviously a lot of people wanted their photo and they only had an hour to get everyone done. Elijah was very nice though and he said hello and asked me how I was. I just about managed to get out a 'fine, thank you'. I swear his eyes are bigger and more blue in real life than they are on screen. I could have drowned in them
After my photo my number had come up for the Alan Tudyk autograph so I went and queued for that. I was in full star-struck mode. Alan was being lovely and chatting away and it was all I could do to give one word answers. D'oh! I was never like this when I met James, or and of the other Buffy people for that matter. I don't know what it was. It was even worse when I met Nathan but more on that in a bit. I did manage to ask if he would mind me having my photo taken with him and one of the con crew took it for us. You can see I am clearly in mid squee. LOL
After I'd had my autograph from Alan I decided that since I'd saved some money by not meeting Carrie that I'd get a professional photo with Alan. He was just so nice I really wanted to do it. I'm so glad I did. It is the cutest photo ever! We're all snuggly in it. LOL. When I showed it to Derek and Matthew they said it looked like we were married. LOL. Unfortunately I won't have access to a scanner until I visit my parents in 2 weeks but as soon as I do I will scan them and post them.
After that I just had to wait around for my Elijah and Nathan numbers to come up. Nathan was nearly at my number so I just loitered around and I bumped into a girl I'd been chatting to in the queue for my Alan photo. She said she'd just seen Julie Caitlin Brown wandering around and just at that moment she walked past us. We stopped her and she was lovely. She chatted to us a bit and let us get photos with her. Not really sure why she was there since she wasn't even on the guest list but it was lovely!
After that it was time for me to meet Nathan. Let me just say that to claim that he is more attractive in real life is an understatement. The man is GORGEOUS! And so nice and funny. I am totally in love. I used to think Simon was the prettiest male character from Firefly. Pfft! No more! Nathan's team had but up a sign saying that he wouldn't be posing for photos any more. I was quite disappointed but someone said I should just ask him anyway. Again I could barely speak when I met him. I managed to tell him my name and how it was spelled and that was about it. I did ask him for a photo though and he was great. He just took the camera off me and pointed it at us and took it. He looked on my camera display and said 'ooh, that's a nice one' gave my camera back to me and gave me the most beautiful smile ever. Oh, god. I'm totally in love with him. LOL. I wandered away in a dazed euphoria.
I was hoping to get Elijah to sign the photo we'd had taken in the morning but there was a delay in getting them back from the lab and I didn't want to lose my place in the queue so I went in without it. This was the only slightly disappointing aspect of the day. Because Elijah was so busy he didn't really have time to talk to anyone. He said hello and smiled but that was about it. I wouldn't have known what to say to him anyway but that's not the point. LOL. I did get a few picures of him from the queue though.
After that I was going to go home but after falling in love with Nathan I decided to go to his talk. I'm so glad I did. Alan Tudyk randomly showed up so they did the talk together. It was hilarous! Those two are brilliant together. I took some video and a few photos. Not sure how the video will turn out because there was a lot of background noise. Nathan was great though. He gave everyone who had asked a question a queue sheet that he'd stolen from set. LOL. So nice! Guh!
After that I figured I'd stay for Jorge Garcia's talk since I didn't meet him for an autograph. It was good, apart from these stupid kids (who in my opinion weren't old enough to be watching Lost anyway) asked him if he would add them to his MSN list. WTF? He was very polite but what I waste of time! I managed to summon the courage to ask a question about character development in Lost. Jorge said he was really pleased with where Hurley's character is going but added he doesn't know what's going to happen in Season 3 yet
