The gayness of football

I've had this discussion with jacqui_hw in the past, and now that I've just posted some When Saturday Comes screencaps to bean_daily it's started again

Footballers. Generally considered to be quite macho and manly men, like Vinnie Jones for example. However, they will merrily jump on each other and kiss each other when goals are scored on the pitch and they're equally happy to all jump in a bath together afterwards. Yet nobody questions their sexuality. You never hear people say 'Did you see the way David Beckham kissed that bloke. I bet he's gay.'

I wonder why that is.
