Author: Hils

Summary: The Fellowship gains an extra member…so to speak

Dedication: Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] bogwitch for the beta and correcting my shocking lack of Tolkien knowledge

And so it was that the Fellowship came to enter the caves, which led to the mines of Moria. Gandalf the Grey, Aragorn son of Arathorn, Gimli son of Gloin, Legolas of Mirkwood, Boromir of Gondor, Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took, Meriadoc Brandybuck and their latest addition, William the Bloody, all brushed the snow from their clothing and proceeded to the entrance of the mines.

The fair haired creature from the underworld had said little through their journey thus far, seeking cover during the day and keeping watch at night while the others slept. He gave advice only when asked directly and criticised when he felt he should. None of the others took kindly to his presence, but they appreciated the need for a nightwalker among them and so they remained silent.

Slowly they made their way forward, Boromir guarding the head of the group while William took the rear. Nobody dared speak for what they may disturb in this mysterious place. Even Gimli, whose home this lead to, remained silent. An eerie and cool chill filled the air, causing men and hobbits to shrink more deeply into the warm elven cloaks they wore.

As they approached the end of the road, Gandalf approached the head of the group. “Dwarf doors are hidden when closed. Ithildin. It mirrors only starlight and moonlight.”

And lo, the doors were revealed to the group, an ancient language heading the top.

“The Doors of Durin, Lord of Moria. Speak, friend, and enter.”

But no spell or incantation of Gandalf’s could force the doors to open.

William, meanwhile, was observing Merry and Pippin who had taken it upon themselves to toss rocks into the water in order to see who could throw the furthest.

“Stop it!” William growled, as the two hobbits began to argue over who was the victor.

“Well, we have to amuse ourselves somehow while Gandalf works out how to open the door.”

“William is right.” Aragorn agreed softly, causing all in the party to look at him. “You’d do best not to disturb the water.”

William’s eyes narrowed as he stared into the black depths of the lake. “Get behind me.”

The intonation in his voice left no room for argument, and Merry and Pippin quickly moved to the back of the group. Aragorn stepped up to William’s side while Legolas and Boromir stood closely behind them.

“What do you see?”

William made no response but braced himself for whatever was approaching. He had no need for weapons other than his strength and he was ready to defend the others in whatever way he could.

He didn’t see the tentacle emerge from the water and wrap itself around his ankle, tugging so hard that he fell onto his back. He barely heard Aragorn call his name before he was dragged beneath the surface of the water and heard nothing else.

He struggled against the grip of the creature, but the more he fought the tighter its grip became. He couldn’t tell exactly what the creature was, but it was large and squid-like. A guardian of the mines perhaps? Or a predator.

A second tentacle wrapped around his waist, sliding beneath his shirt, so that the suction cups could fix themselves to the bare flesh of his torso. Although he expected the creature to drain him of his life, it did not happen. Instead he felt himself feeling warm and aroused as he was gently suckled.

The tentacle that had been holding his leg released him and slipped beneath the waistline of his breeches. It was then that William realised that this being was not searching for food; it was searching for a mate!

His back arched with pleasure as the same sucking sensation began at his nether regions. Any will he has previously had to fight this thing, faded as he was suckled and stroked with more deftness and skill than any woman he had known. William relaxed and allowed himself to be pleasured, reaching out and petting the tentacle that was massaging his chest.

The final moment of pleasure never came, however. The creature let out a scream and released him, disappearing as quickly as it had arrived. Rough hands grabbed him and pulled him ashore where he found himself in the arms of Aragorn.

“We felt for sure that creature had killed you.”

It took William a moment to compose himself as he stared back into the now still waters. “What happened?”

“I shot it,” Legolas replied as he strapped his bow back onto his back. “I’m not sure if I killed it or not. We should move.”

As Aragorn pulled him to his feet William saw that the doors to Moria were now open.

He hoped that the creature had survived, and would eventually find a suitable mate. He was clearly not the one.

With one final glance at the still lake, he followed his companions into the mine, knowing that he would never quite be the same again.
