My weekend and other animals
Nov. 18th, 2002 08:53 pmUrgh, I think I'm coming down with something. I feel all chilly and achy. Bleugh. Should be in bed but feel the need to do a rather long LJ post before I slink away
So, first of all the weekend. Had many visitors. Well, two.
Friday - Work was arse but no change there. Still, had a very nice lunch with Tyson. I always love talking to him, he's very insightful and he's one of the few people I feel comfortable being totally honest with. We had a nice long chat about everything that's going on in our lives and I felt better afterwards
After work I went shopping. Bought myself some boring necessary stuff like shampoo and then treated myself to a personal CD player. Now the walks to and from work will be a little more entertaining.
Got home to find my next Buffy tape had arrived. Did a little jig and then went to collect it from the Post Office. Got home to find Rob had arrived. Comtemplated running and hiding in my room for the remainder of the weekend but decided against it (hehe, I'm only kidding). Had Dorothy Parker read to me. Was very impressed. She represents the cynical side of me perfectly.
My friend Ros arrived fairly soon after that and we went out for a meal. Did the girly thing and talked about boys for most of the night. Got into a rather deep debate about Christianity (Ros is very religious and has been trying to explain to her new boyfriend that sex is a no no until she's married).
Came home and watched Tom and Rob fiddle with Grand Theft Auto - Vice City (this will become a recurring theme). Went to bed at about 1am
Saturday - Woke up to find it raining. A lot. Tom and Rob went into town while I did the sensible thing and curled up on the sofa all day. Fiddled around on the PS2 for a bit and spent most of the evening watching Tom and Rob playing GTA VC. Still, we had chinese which is always a good thing.
Somehow managed to sit up until 4:30 talking to Rob. Was amused by impressions of Shaggy and other rappers. Very pleasant evening. Finally realised that at 4am they show the same news stories over and over. I guess not many sane people are up at that time of day.
Sunday - Woke up to find Tom playing GTA VC (gasp!). Watched him kill random people for a while until he finally got bored and let me and Rob watch Buffy. My thoughts on the episodes I saw :-
Help - A lot sadder than I thought it was going to be. Still, a nicely done episode although we all decided the whole student sacrifce thing was very Season 2
Selfless - Oh dear god! I LOVED the scenes with Aud and Olaf. It was hilarious! This episode as a whole was great, although Buffy turning into Judge Dredd was a little unecessary. Still, I love Anya and it was nice to see a bit more about her. I'm starting to hope she and Xander can work things out. Kind of felt sorry for Spike with his Buffy hallucination. Poor guy
Him - Well, by the time we got around to watching this there were four of us in the room. We all laughed SO much. Especially the scene with Buffy and the Bazuka. Fantastic stuff. And I appear to have convinced Tom that Buffy can be saved. He seemed to like Season 7 based on what he saw. YAY!
Oh, and I spent most of Sunday having my skirt petted. And Rob delighted in terrifying me by doing impressions of Narl (the demon from STSP. Man, he's creepy)
Monday - Went to work and had been sat at my desk for about a minute when I was overcome by the biggest wave of misery I have ever felt. I don't know what brought it on, but I was just sat there wondering what the hell I was doing. I have no interest at all in my job, it's not even mentally stimulating. So I spent the rest of the day feeling depressed. Drageed Tyson out at lunchtime and told him all about it. Felt a bit better but I REALLY need a new job. I can't go on like this for much longer. Now, if only I knew what it was I wanted to do...
Skipped my writing class tonight as I didn't manage to get my Saint piece done. I'm going to try and work on it this week. I have ideas, I just don't seem to be able to find the words at the moment.
So there we are, my weekend.
Oh, and I've just read the Buffy wildfeed. I won't say anything but this
IT'S ABOUT TIME!!!!!
Ok, that's it....apart from one more thing (I will shut up soon, I promise). I've dusted off my Crumbling Walls CD and put it back in my CD player. Here's the track list for those who haven't seen it.
1. Duran Duran - Out of my Mind
2. The Goo-Goo Dolls - Here is Gone
3. Live - Forever May Be Long Enough
4. Nine Inch Nails - Closer
5. Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight Tonight
6. The Tea Party - The Messenger
7. Tresspasser's William - I Know
8. Devil Doll - Faith In Love
9. Bush - Glycerine
10. The Goo-G00 Dolls - Iris
11. The Crystals - He Hit Me (It Felt Like A Kiss)
12. Bush - Out of this World
13. Velvet Chain - Strong
14. Michelle Branch - Goodbye To You
15. Sarah McLachlan - Building a Mystery
16. Alannah Myles - The Last Time I Saw William
17. Sarah McLachlan - Prayer of St. Francis
I can't remember which memeber of Crumbling Walls suggested The Messenger, but I STILL love that song. Does anyone know if the rest of The Tea Party's stuff is as good as that?
