Well, what better thing is there to do when you're bored than update your journal. Just thought I'd take a few minutes (or possibly hours) to waffle about nothing.

It suddenly occured to me today that I'm actually fairly content in my life at the moment. True my job sucks but since I don't actually know what I want to do for a living it's not bad.

I start my writing course in just over a week and although I'm quite nervous I'm also really excited. It's going to be a fantastic opportunity to flex my creative muscles and who knows I might actually turn out something which I can consider getting published.

James has invited me to go along to the York Uni creative writing group too. Not really sure how this is going to go. Either it's going to be full of pretentious people who make me feel like an illiterate oaf or it'll be fun. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

I realise I spent the majority of last week brooding about my singledom but I feel better now. It's occured to me just how lucky I am to have the amazing friends that I do. Whether I have a boyfriend or not really doesn't matter. The right man is out there somewhere but I'm damned if I'm going to waste my life pining when I should be enjoying myself.

Hmm...well, the only thing left to talk about is Buffy. The Season 7 premiere airs in a couple of weeks but it's already managed to leak it's way onto some of the spoiler boards I frequent. If you don't want to know what happens and my thoughts then stop reading here.

Ok, brief episode summery.

Sunnydale High has been re-opened and it's Dawn's first day. Xander takes her there, explaining that he helped build it. Not long after she gets there part of the floor collapses under Dawn and two other students and she gets trapped in the basement, along with 3 ghosty type things. She pulls out her cell phone and calls Buffy who charges to the rescue. Whilst looking for Dawn Buffy runs into Spike who is also in the lower part of the school. She asks him where he's been and notices a load of wounds on his chest. He says he tried to cut 'it' out. Spike tells her how to kill the ghosty things and when Buffy says she'll come back for him he says he lives here now
Buffy kills the ghosty things and saves everyone. As she comforts the two other students and advises them on how to protect themselves she is overheard and given the job of a school councellor.
At the end we see Spike curled up in a ball while a montage of former baddies tell him that he's no good and that more is to come etc.
The End

My thoughts - Ok, could they be setting us up for a Dawn spinoff or what? Aside from Buffy doing the rescuing it was pretty much the first episode of Season 1 all over again. We even have Dawn's friends (already being called the Scrappy Gang) as Xander and Willow
Joss Whedon has already said he wants to go back to the beginning and most of the episode is spent not so subtley rubbing this in our faces.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. I feel like I'm watching a loved one slowly die. I just can't stop watching on the offchance that it might get better though.
I suppose it's not fair to judge the Season on one episode but my hopes aren't high.
