Before I start I would like to apologise to any Caps fans reading this. I don't know many of the players apart from Ovi and Backstrom so sorry if I took a picture of your fave and had no idea who he was <3

I accidentally slept unil 8am which is the latest I'd slept since starting this trip. Probably because we didn't arrive until so late the night before. We were running a bit late so as soon as everyone was ready it was time for us to leave.

First stop of the day [livejournal.com profile] tiptoe39 took us to the Kettler Iceplex to watch the Caps practice. This was actually really cool and definitely something I'd like to do with the Pens some day. I was actually surprised there weren't more people there but it was a Monday morning.

I think the most interesting thing was watching Ovi. Admittedly I am basing what I know on fic and the occasional interview but he always comes across as a bit of a goofball. He was super serious during practice though. Some of the guys were messing around between drills but I don't think I saw Ovi smile once. I suppose you don't get to be one of the best players in the world by not taking hockey seriously :D

I love this photo. It looks like they're singing. Sorry, don't know who the guy with Ovi is

I did learn who this is and now I can't remember but he was adorable. He kept making faces at this tiny little toddler (kid couldn't have been much older than 2). It was the cutest thing.

Towards the end a group of Chinese kids who were over for a visit went out onto the ice and the guys played with them for a while. This was also adorable.

Once we were done watching practice we headed to the store. I'd already bought an Ovi shirt to wear to the game that night so I didn't really want to get anything else. Except I found a really cute shirt that has the logos of all the teams on it. So of course I had to get that.

We then decided to go and wait outside to try and meet some of the players. Unfortunately I'm a wuss. It was raining and cold and after an hour I'd sort of had enough and decided to wait in the car. Of course not long after that the guys started to come out :-p

Don't get me wrong if it was my team I'd have stayed there all day waiting. Yes, I am a terrible person.

Once autographs had been acquired we decided to go for lunch to warm up. We went to Romano's which was fun because they give you crayons to draw on the tablecloth

[livejournal.com profile] tiptoe39 drew us :D

I'm amazed they didn't kick me out of the city tbh :-p

If there's macaroni cheese on the menu I will order it

This lemon dessert was SO GOOD OMG

Poor [livejournal.com profile] tiptoe39 was very patient because while we were waiting for food a video was posted of the Pens talking about what animal they'd be. It was so cute and [livejournal.com profile] morganoconner and I basically spent about 10 mins flailing about it.

Once we were done with dinner we took the train downtown and headed to the National Archives. It was still absolutely throwing it down with rain so we opted for something touristy that was also indoors. We weren't allowed to take photos as it would damage the documents but I saw the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. I also saw Alexander Hamilton's signature. It was all very cool.

Once we were done we met up with my friend Jess in a nearby cafe before heading to a sports bar to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] cherie_morte. Meeting up with fandom friends was definitely one of the highlights of this trip. I was so glad we were able to do this before the game.

The game itself was a lot of fun. Even though it wasn't my team you can't beat the atmosphere of a home game and I was so glad [livejournal.com profile] tiptoe39 shared her boys with us <3

I took a lot of photos of Ovi. Oops.

Who is the guy at the front? He is very attractive

Once we were back from the game we decided to unpack and repack our bags and the car since it was going to be our last opportunity to do so (we were due back into Springfield at about 1am the next day and had to be up again at 7am to get to the airport).

I took the opportunity to take a photo of my swag. This isn't even all of it. This doesn't include the stuff I bought before the trip that I left in Springfield or any of the gifts I bought for people

Once that was done it was pretty much time to crash
