You know, it's no wonder people download music/TV illegally when the producing companies, for whatever reason, decide that their products should only be available in certain countries

Of the music suggested in this poll half of it is not available on iTunes in this country. I'm sat here willing to pay for it and I can't obtain stuff legally.

So if the government wants to combat piracy they should start by making their products available to all. Then go after the people who continue to download illegally.

RAH!

I totally agree. iTunes have done this to me more than once - I want to pay them money for a product and they won't take my money, where is the logic in this? This is why I don't have tremendous sympathy for most of the big media companies

yes. this. its fucking annoying. as is the way stations in smaller countries wont necessarily play episodes at the same time or same order or at all...what are we meant to do then?

mark sheppard ranted about this while in Melbourne, the networks do not lose money by us watching online as we then buy the dvds as well and they dont knoww if we dont watch when its on tv anyway.

This is a very logical and sensible point and therefore will probably be completely ignored by Those Who Think They Have The Power (but are actually idiots).

I agree with you wholeheartedly. This is the insanity of the entire issue, they make their products limited yet expect everyone to access them. It is the oxymoron of all plans.

I agree. It's simply ridiculous... It's also unfair how much more the UK has to pay for the same product compared to US.

THIS EXACTLY.

If I could obtain all the music I wanted in music stores online, I would not look for it elsewhere!!

Also, the GEMA (a German music association that deals with legal rights for music & payments to musicians, etc.) and their ridiculous demands are responsible for the fact that a lot of music videos are blocked on German Youtube. They don't even realise that music videos are excellent advertisement.

Governments and the media industry need to recognise that the internet has created a set of global consumers and that legal rights need to reflect that.

Which is pretty much what I've been saying for years.

Well, if they obviously don't want our money...

Exactly this.
If I could pay a small monthly membership to download things like Supernatural and other US shows legally (as they're released on tv over there), then I would.
I'm surprised about the music though, I would have assumed that if it's been released for purchase there, then they'd want you to buy it no matter where you live x_x

This. It's frustrating of getting access to things months after the US, if at all.

Consumers for the first time are dictating how they want to consume things. The industry needs to exploit that rather than constrain it. It's too late for that.

Spotify is a great example of how to do it. I have completely changed how I listen and consume music because of it and I'm happy to pay a fee.

These people up their don't understand that the Internet has brought countries nearer together.
I can't understand either why I can't buy an ebook in my country and have to buy the paperback.
Thank god for bookdepository where I can get paperbacks cheap. - They deliver worldwide.
Stupid rules.....

(Oh and I think it's the same with Australia because I've heard people complain there too.)

Same goes for vids...and IMO other fan merchandise too! So much music and so many films that are darn near impossible to get...and they wonder why people go around the back doors to try to get them. Not sure who they think they're protecting...
