Poke me with something!
Mar. 9th, 2009 04:19 pmI'm trying to motivate myself to go to aerobics. I've only just got back from the cinema and it's cold outside, but I really should go. Someone force me.
I haven't read any reviews of this so I have no idea what people are saying about it.
I should point out that I am by no means a comics purist. I'm not rolling around and gnashing my teeth because they changed the ending slightly. Peronally I thought, apart from that, it was VERY true to the book. Probably the closest adaptation of a comic I've seen in fact.
The direction was wonderful and the soundtrack was perfect and I will be buying it very shortly.
I have to say I am eagerly awaiting the reviews of the Supernatural fangirls who only went to see it because of JDM. I remember telling Jacqui about it when I first read the book. JDM is playing an absolute twat! Will the fangirls be upset or just squee because he's in it?
He was excellent by the way. Everyone was. My only minor quibble was that Nite Owl's costume looked a bit too slick.
And I thought the change to the ending was necessary. Most of the comic geeks I've spoken to agree with me. A simulated nuclear attack resonates with people far more than a giant space squid.

Date: 2009-03-09 04:56 pm (UTC)I'll make my own post in due course, but essentially I thought it was excellant. Bit bloody at times, but then, well, it IS.
Plus, I discovered something squeeful. Ozymandias = Lex/Clark! Seriously, follow me here:
- he WEARS PURPLE
- he's the smartest man on earth
- he can catch bullets out of the air
- he thinks he knows what's best for the whole of humanity and is willing to sacrifice lives for his plans
It's like they took the arrogance of SV!Clark and gave him Lex's smarts and dress sense. I love it :p The CAF should take note if this is the kind of 'hero' SV!Clark is closest to.
