I think if I posted all my photos in one post LJ would explode. LOL! So here we have the photos of my hotel room, the King Arthur pub and Glastonbury Abbey. Hope you like them!

My hotel room. It's nice. Bit noisy as I'm above a pub beer garden but not a major issue

The desk where I am posting from right now

The yummy Ploughmans I had for dinner last night. Well, I opted not to eat the pickled egg but the rest was nice

King Arthur pub

This is where I probably sound mental but what the hell. I was walking along the laid out footpath when all of a sudden I had this very strong feeling and said out loud to myself 'get off the beaten track' so I did and found myself here. Would have been wandering for ages otherwise

The main purpose of my trip

You can see the tor in the distance

The entry at the top made me laugh. I bet that's what Bradley's handwriting looks like ;)

Glastonbury is possibly the most magical place on earth. Did you see the Glastonbury thorn tree?

Yup, that's about how I remember it.

I wonder what Wendy saw that made it life changing????

So that's what a proper ploughman's looks like. Somehow, I suspect that the one Niel Gaiman mentioned in "Shogoth's Old Peculiar" did not look quite so appetizing. (And the fact that you've got a picture of it here made me more excited than it probably should have. =P)

Very nice pictures, though. Looks amazing. I've always loved visiting old buildings and ruins, and I bet that place would be incredible to visit.

Can you SMELL the history pouring off those pics alone?! God, it must have been so amazing, and I'm not at all surprised that you listened to intuition and found that gravesite.

And the tor. OH GOD THE TOR!!

Well, a ploughman's varies from town to town. Some of them give you some apple instead of the pickled egg

God, yes, I can't put into words how incredible this place is!

Damn, you beat me to it. I was gonna demand fics from someone who's actually been there and tasted the atmosphere and everything *grin* I may still do that.

Hee! You can demand but I can't guarantee I will fulfill. I'm swamped with fics at the moment

Wonderful to see the Abbey looking as beautiful as ever...! I can't believe how green everything already is over there, though...wow.

About the following your intuition thing...the first time I was there we were doing the audio tour they had available and I went up into the remains of church and started going across a walkway as I was listening; about halfway across my knees kinda went wobbly so I stopped and looked out through the remains of the Abbey (which, when it was being used, must have been astounding) and tried to steady myself. I looked down at the plaque in front of me and it said there'd been a church of some sort on that site since 63 A.D.. There's been a place of worship there for almost 2000 years! The energy left there is amazing after all that time...

Lovely photos, brought back some great memories for me. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of the tor.

I don't remember having any odd feelings at Glastonbury, but, on a Highlander note, when I visited Culloden it had the most unsettling vibe about it. I don't think I've ever had such a visceral reaction to a place before or since.

You've taken some fantastic photos, what a joy. I loved the pub sign and I always love the way you take a photo of a meal too. I, too, was wondering what Wendy from USA found so life changing - I guess we'll never know.

I'm looking forward to the next batch.

Now I really wanna got to Glastonbury, like way more than before!

And LOL, that Arthur entry.. I also love how under the 'Country' column you get Swansea, London etc..

Intuition..such a wonderful thing. You don't sound mental. If that's mental, then I am too. :D

Yes! I must show you the ep that has the Culloden flashbacks. It is a Methos episode. Oh, actually there are two, both Methos eps, now that I think of it. But as for Culloden itself, the place really gave me chills down my spine. I've never felt anything like it.

Wow, that's an amazing picspam! Did you make the trip to Glastonbury on your own? To find King Arthur's grave? That's awesome! :D I wish I had more time for sightseeing trips in my country - or interesting sights to see, as it were. *LOL*

Your hotel room looks great! I hope I'll have a room like that when I'm visiting Liverpool next month! ;)

The Ploughmans looks quite like the usual "tea" in Germany - except we don't get what's behind that pickled egg. Is that an onion? It looks like an eyeball. XDD And what is that brown stuff next to the ham?

Did you have a drink at the King Arthur pub? :D

LOVE the photos of the grave and the ruins! You had excellent weather, didn't you? Lucky you! The site looks fantastic - that's definitely one place I'd like to visit before I die! :D

And LOL @ that first entry in the guestbook! XDDD

From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
Hee! Yes, I went by myself to find King Arthur's grave. It was really nice :)

Yeah, that's pickled onion behind the egg and the brown stuff is chutney

No, I didn't drink in the King Arthur pub. I was going to but there were lots of people hanging around outside and it didn't look like the safest place.

I definitely recommend Glastonbury if you're ever back in the UK (after Liverpool I mean)

Ok, how about this, you can choose ONE photo from either this post or the other one and I will write a Merlin ficlet based on it for you

HEEEEEE!!!

I *was* going to say the first one of the hotel room, but that'd be entirely too easy ;) I'm not wasting an opportunity like this on smut.

I pick glasto22.jpg, of course, the one with the tor in the distance. It's such a gorgeous pic. And I can see Merlin going all sorcerery with that big big energy focal point tor thing. *bounce*

THANKEE!!
