Merlin Friending Meme

God, everyone in this fandom is SO YOUNG! I suppose this is the descent for me on the road to middle-age. I'm no longer a youngling *sob*

In unrelated (or mildly related news) I've set myself the target of getting my current Merlin fic finished before I go back to work on Monday, so I will be mostly writing today. Anyone available to do a beta if my usual one isn't free this weekend?

Sadly, it's an inevitable fact of fandom. For years, i was the "young one". Then I moved into the middle and now I'm the person who can say, "Well, back in the old days when Doctor Who hadn't come to America and Star Trek was the hot new show, when there was no internet or these massive conventions for a television show and dinosaurs roamed the planet..." It's a really weird shift in perspective and one that sneaks up and whacks you on the head without you expecting it, especially if you don't have kids to notice the passage of time.

Oh, it's horrible the first time it happens. Then, though, it becomes kinda fun and wicked. ::evil grin as I consider that Daniel Radcliffe is growing into an attractive young man who is clearly in need of corrupting::

Hehe! Yeah, it's really strange, like you say. It just sort of sneaks up on you. I was just looking at the friending meme and most of them seem to be 16-18. I can barely remember being that age any more *sobs*

Ah well, I look forward to dreaming of corrupting youth when I get a bit older ;)

Ummm, that would be one of the reasons why McShep appeals - at least I could possibly date one of them being only 8 years older. After all, Gary's 5 years older than me. :-P

The worst things about memes is that I read someone's little bio and I think 'they seem really cool' and I go to comment and then realise that I thought that on the last meme and thus am already their friend. *sigh*

I can probably beta later, I'm avoiding doing all the things I should be doing today. :)

Hee, I was looking at that meme, too, and it's quite disturbing that most people are at least 10 years younger. 8o

I'd say there are still some years to go - unless you have a thing for little boys. Yikes.

And, the beta thingy: I could do it - I suck at grammar and basically anything concerning the English language, but... my heart's in the right place. XD

I've found that although I can appreciate the attractiveness of someone much younger than I am, I no longer 'crush' on them. Tom Welling and Jensen Ackles are pretty much at the lower age limit that I can crush on. Anyone even a little bit younger, such as Jared Padelecki who is quite lovely to look at, doesn't really do it for me.

It's very rare for me to crush on people younger than me. I'd much rather lust after a man old enough to be my dad like Sean Bean or Viggo Mortensen. I'm sure that will change as I get older though. At the moment the Merlin boys are the only ones younger than me that I have any interest in
