I should learn to trust my gut instincts

Yesterday evening I said to Mum-Ra 'Oh, I must get the breakdown number off you because I really don't want to break down in the middle of nowhere'

Yes, you've guessed it. About 5 miles from my destination I blew a tyre. It freaked me the hell out!

Needless to say I missed the interview. They must be keen to see me though as they asked if I wanted to reschedule for tomorrow. When I said no they said they'd see me in the New Year.

Now I must praise our public funded services. I waved down three cars, all of whom ignored me. Eventually a Royal Mail van stopped and the postie kindly let me use his mobile (I had no signal on mine)

Not long after that a Police van drove past and stopped to check I was ok. Not only did they stay with me until the breakdown van came, they let me sit in their warm car and one of the policemen rang where I was going to tell them what had happened.

Everyone was so kind and it made an awful experience just about bearable.

Now I'm going to head back to York and have a stiff drink!

That's awful, but I'm glad you were able to get help and they were so cool about rescheduling!

Good grief!! Glad you were OK - and that the postie and the police were nice.

Also rather nice to hear that they still want to see you!

What tends to happen when a lone female rings a breakdown provider is that they send the police out just to check up on you - am glad this seems to still be the case!

*hugs*

Oh dear that sounds awful!
(Joining the AA was the best thing I ever did. My car had a spate of breakdowns last year and I found that even on busy streets no-one stopped. Except for a police car once.)
Glad the interview could be rescheduled though.

I'm glad the experience ended well and that you're okay. The most important thing to take from this experience is to ALWAYS trust your instincts - they will never let you down. It takes time to learn to listen to them but it's well worth the effort. Take it from one who knows. xxx

I know we live in an era of mistrust but do I really look like a mugger or a seriel killer? Ok, you don't know what I look like, but I don't look evil I promise
