Maybe I'll stay here next time *g*

Nash's house. This is where Shakespeare's grandaughter and her husband lived

This made me sad. This garden used to be the house where Shakespeare died. The owner in the 1700s got into an argument about taxes on the house and knocked it down as a result :(

The arches were part of Shakespeare's cellar. That's all that's left of the house

It is a pretty garden but still...

I had afternoon tea in this lovely little tearoom called Hathaway's.

The silly museum again

The foundations of a property believed owned by Shakespeare's father

The theatre where I saw Hamlet

The verse written on Shakespeare's grave

The grave

The stained glass in this church was incredible. It looked almost 3D

A carving of Shakespeare. This was done just a few years after he died, and while his wife was still alive so it is believed to be one of the closest portrayals of what he looked like

The Shakespeare coat of arms above it

The church where Shakespeare is buried

And a trip isn't complete without going on the river

Me!

Pretty bridge

Posh house with its own boathouse

Pretty house through the trees

The church alongside the river

This is how close to the stage I was when I saw Hamlet. I have not used zoom or anything

My present to myself

Date: 2008-09-25 12:41 pm (UTC)Oh, and there was also supposed to be a mulberry tree in the yard of the New Place (the one that got pulled down) that the owner got so annoyed by all the visitors coming and asking about it because it was supposedly planted with Shakespeare's own hands that he cut it down just to spite them!
