Post the first line from your 25 most recent fanfics and try to find a pattern.
1. When not fighting the forces of evil, Buffy Summers considered herself a tolerant and open-minded person.
2. The brain has a handy knack of not remembering pain so, when Clark was shot, it felt as if it were the first time.
3. Nothing prepares Pepper for the sight of Tony lying amongst the smashed remains of the roof, the arc reactor flickering feebly in his chest.
4. Entering the office of Lex Luthor was like entering the lair of a beast, a beast that had no qualms about murdering his own father.
5. Adam wasn't gay; not exclusively, anyway.
6. The women at the library knew his face by now.
7. It hurt to see him like this.
8. “Every action you take, son, is like a move in a chess game.
9. Clark woke cautiously, tensing for a moment, only allowing himself to relax when none of the usual pain or sounds of screams hit him.
10. Trust me Lex, there's nothing that's lost that can't be found again.
11. “What are you going to do about Lex?”
12. Despite the warm body lying beside him, and the soft breaths tickling his ear, Clark had never felt more alone.
13. Clark glanced at his watch again, and sighed.
14. She feels small in his arms, delicate, and he can almost hear Clark howling as he holds her close.
15. “This is seriously how you want to settle this?” Angel asked incredulously.
16. Lex loved to study Clark’s hands.
17. “I can’t believe it took us this long to get here,” Lex murmured as they sat curled up in front of his fire.
18. “We can’t do it here!”
19. He knows his feelings are wrong, but every inch of his flesh tingles whenever the ranger meets his eyes.
20. Lex was used to waiting for Clark.
21. Clark felt Lana’s eyes on him before he saw her.
22. Lara remained a picture of calm serenity as Lana scurried around fixing the tea.
23. Clark Kent felt small as he looked at the bridge, with its gaping hole.
24. "I need to know that you love me. No matter what."
25. “Comic books are for kids.”
Well, the main pattern I picked up is that I rarely start my fics with dialogue. Almost all the lines that are dialogue above are from drabbles. I think only two are from longer fics. I also seem to start with an action of some sort.
Oh, I do miss writing!
