Dude, my Twilight post just got me defriended by someone!

Apparently when I said 'I've managed to determine the latest book is crap' I actually meant 'I think this series is crap and I've never even read it'

Lordy! How amusing!

People are strange!

Wow. It must be in the air, someone else I know got defriended today for saying she wouldn't watch the Olympics.

Everyone is so CRANKY.

Oh dear! :/ lol. Well, their loss.
I haven't read the books, and I don't really know much about them, but for crying out loud...it's a silly thing to defriend someone over. Sheesh.

LOL That is kind of funny actually. I get being possessive and passionate about books and shows and movies you love, but defriending for it? Meh. Thats a bit over the top. Not everyone has the same tastes.

I just came across you via the 'friends of friends' list and had to tell you that your Twilight posts cracked me up. Thanks for brightening an otherwise boring Friday afternoon at the office!

Hehe! I'm certainly not in mourning over it

Egads! I don't think I would ever defriend someone for having a different opinion to me. Unless their journal was full of material I found offensive

From: [identity profile] hils.livejournal.com
Hehe! It's not someone I was close to so I'm kind of amused more than anything

All this over sparkling vampires

Exactly! It's all very silly!

Hee! You're very welcome!

Honestly, I just asked what I thought was a simple question and it all just exploded (or should that be fursploded?)

I love 'fursploded'! I haven't read the books, but have seen many comments on them, and I think my favourite line was something about the vampire having 'buttery gold eyes'. Just made my brain twist at the mental image I got!

From personal experience (I haven't read the books either) the comments are much more amusing than the actual books

Buttery gold eyes? Eew! LOL!

Oh my gods!!!!!!!!! You mentioned defriend, that's so messing with my aura, I'm going to have to defriend you

That and I just like the opportunity to trot out my drama icon

Seriously though, how old are people when they can't be friends with someone for having an opinion, even when the opinion is a questing one. I've no idea who this person is, but my logic goes "Well, that's the average IQ and EQ just went up"

Interbrat, HO!

LOL that's funny. Apparently she's defending the sparkly vampires, one de-friending at a time!

Yeah, I am not mourning the loss, I must admit.

I was only asking a question!

Actually, this is really amusing me. Who'd have thought sparkling vampires could get people so worked up.

Okay, I'm going to say it: Twilight fans are worse than Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter fans.

Also, I agree with you on that the book is crap. But I will go a step further in saying that the entire series is the steaming pile of wet dog shit I had to clean up at the store yesterday.

Hee!!! Yes, they do sound bad!

I was in the LotR fandom and I never had any troubles. Not sure about HP as it was never my thing

You've seen the hardcore members of fandoms before, I mean people worried when India and Pakistan got nuclear weapons... then they gave Star Wars and Star Trek fans t'internet (way to keep things in proportion)

If you go to imdb.com and go to either the LOTR or HP message boards, you are bound to find "All the ways in which one is better than the other" posts, and you can see firsthand how extremely awful some fans can be.

And now, for the movie at least, there are HP and Twilight "better than yours" things going on. They're all crazy.

Hee! I kind of love how crazy fandom is

I'd never heard of Twilight until the hype at Comic Con. Which led me to think it's crap.

However, the new True Blood series looks good, and I'll let you know what I think about the first novel when I read it (since they gave me a free copy at the panel).

I noticed last night you had a Staunch Defender on the thread. I was waiting for her to start flaming everyone who disagreed with her, but defriending is second best.

Twilight is a special, special snowflake, and anyone who doesn't like it is OMG just MEAN. And old. And does not understand Twoo Wuv.

That's such crap dear, I mean why on earth would someone be that petty? I don't particularly care for Smallville, but I love to read your journal and besides which I would never dump my oldest LJ friend--and one of the few I've actually met. You're a sweetie.

Besides which, they ARE complete crap. I read this amazing literary analysis that, yes did compare them to Buffy. But the comparison discussed how when Buffy got dumped by Angel she cried with Willow and then went on to be heroic. Whereas when the girl in Twilight gets dumped she goes all emo. And it also talked about how the books were a return to passive females, traditional gender roles, and the epitomizing of the virgin. It was quite interesting I have to say.

Sorry to ramble!
