I don't understand!

The installation of new drivers didn't fix my touchpad so I switched off my laptop ready to take it to work and get someone to look at it.

Now it's working.

I have no idea if it's going to last but I suspect it will be fine until I get back home tonight. LOL!

I really think I want a new laptop but I have to pass my driving test and save up for all these trips I have planned for August and September, and then depending on what happens with my job I might have to move house.

Argh!

Only plus side is if I have to move for a job I will be earning enough that a new laptop won't be an issue. I can has now pls?

Touchpads are the devils inventions ;-)
Get a small wireless travel mouse on USB - they are so much more reliable than the built-in stuff, no fiddling with drivers whatsoever. One of those where you stuff the usb-plug inside the mouse is recommended, as they give impressively long battery time. And you can have it loose in your bag. Eeeek - where is my mouse ::G::

Well, a lot of the time I use my laptop on my lap in bed so a mouse isn't really practical

The Wombat uses her mouse on the flat bit of the laptop beside the touchpad. It works beautifully.

I use my laptop in bed when I'm travelling, and it's no problem to use the mouse. These new laser mouses work on almost any surface, and being wireless, you can have it anywhere you comfortably can have your hand, on the sheets, on your own thigh, etc.

Excellent! Although I've just made another post and I think the problem is my new power adaptor rather than the touchpad
