I just had another phone call. There's a job 5 minutes from my house and I will be earning £30,000 a year.

Downside is it's four days on, four days off and 12 hour days when I'm working

I'm waiting for the job description before I decide whether I want it.

Still, at least people are interested in employing me

The 12 hour day, 4 on 4 off thing isn't too bad. My boyfriend does something similar (works Mon, Tues, Wed and every other Sunday, 6am-6:30pm) and he really likes having 4 day weekends every other week. So there are definite pros to it!

That's a lot of work, but having four days off in a row would be good...

Howeved, the days you would be working would be hell and you wouldn't be able to do much aside from work those days.

Why shouldn't they want to hire you?
Can't say if the pay is much or not (£) and the working hours are long. But four days off too and not far to drive, that sounds good :))

I guess you have to work out whether that's enough to compensate for the lousy hours.

I used to work at a TV station and I worked 4am to Noon. Great hours since I had a lot of time during the day to do stuff with the kids, but it didn't pay enough to compensate for going to bed at 8pm.

It was a fun job, so I stuck it out for year hoping to move up and get more pay, but that never happened. Now I'm doing tech support making twice what I did at the TV station...
