I have to say that the BSG panels at Polaris last year had just as many women as men attending, if that's any indication

Hmm, I have seen this issue a number of times on my flist and everytime I feel sort of like I can't give a qualified opinion because I'm not one of those "women" people they talk about... Even the Jezebel article makes assumptions that don't fit. For example, I was never terribly bothered by Star Trek not having many "female heroes" before feminism told be I should be. And a large part of BSG's appeal is watching Six being scorching hot, politics and the Cylons being Cylons, not the soap opera stuff. I like fictional violence. I like interesting aliens and monsters. I like fascinating statements about technology. I even like cool space battles.

Oh, absolutely. I went to a panel on feminism in BSG and I felt all guilty that none of the issues everyone else was outraged about had bothered me in the slightest.

I either like a show or I don't. I don't spend hours analysing it (well, apart from Smallville)
