I fell asleep yesterday afternoon and I missed the first five minutes of Doctor Who but I watched most of it

Am I the only one who didn't really enjoy this episode and found the character of Jenny to be deeply annoying? Mostly because she reminded me of Emma Bunton. LOL!

I liked the overall plot, even if it was clearly a contrived re-telling of Genesis.

Come on, the world had only existed for seven days and it ends with The Doctor finding The Garden of Eden.

I liked Donna being smart and teaching The Doctor a little about himself.

I liked Martha and The Hath but I didn't feel any emotion at all when Jenny died. In fact it was pretty obvious it was going to happen.

Is she going to be in more episodes now that she's regenerated? I hope not.

Word.

I don't know who Emma Bunton is. Kristin Bell I would get.

The Martha/Hath part of the episode was much more compelling, though I do like some nice David Tennant angst.

Genesis project = Search for Spock, which I'm sure Mr. Greenhorn has memorized, since he borrowed from it liberally.

Emma Bunton used to be one of The Spice Girls.

Oh.

How very annoying for you.

Was she Perky Spice, because Jenny was waaaay too perky.

She was Baby Spice, which equates to the same thing. LOL.

I was pleased to get more Matha, even if she seems to now be playing the part of the Damsel in Distress.

Jenny I wasn't bothered about at all, but David was upset when she died....I suspect that was because she was a pretty young girl on his part!

Donna was again a treat!

this episode felt like an episode of Star Trek but I loved it. Mythology-centric. Like the Genesis theory - your probably right.

I wasn't inspired by the episode. It just felt a bit... hammy.

Then again, it might help if I watched it on my own when I review it.

I hate being interrupted mid-Who!

I know she's Peter D's daughter, so saying "Hi Dad," had lots of meanings, but couldn't they have found an actress who looked even a tiny bit like David. Say with dark hair for a start. And how is she programmed to fly a space shuttle? Being a soldier I can accept, but nothing else.

I'm betting on a spin-off.

I liked that by the end Martha was ready to move on with her life

Yes, there was a definite Star Trek feel to it

Hehe! Yeah, maybe I'd have got more into it if I'd seen the first five minutes. LOL

Yeah, that ending made no sense

God, that would be awful!

(A spin-off, not forgetting to log into LJ)

Having to remember to log on is pretty catastrophic for someone with a memory like mine!

That last bit with Jenny spouting off about all the running she'd have to do seemed awfully like the hook for a spin-off to me.

I believe it could be well done, but probably not with the actress they've chosen. But then if they killed her off in the first episode and had her regenerate there might be hope. I'm thinking the actress who played the lesbian ghost in Hex. She'd be an interesting time-lord.

I've never seen Hex

Can't say you missed a lot, but it was worth watching for Jemima Rooper.

I think Jenny needs to be moved over to Torchwood! Imagine all the extra sex seens with both her and Jack using their sex on people...

I thought it was an interesting premise, and a neat way to retell the story of "Genesis" (and that's coming from a non-Christian).

By the way - did you ever post about last week's episode? If so, I totally missed it! I expected a comment out of you on one particular line from that one! (Not that you were busy having fun at Collectormania or anything last week!) *smirk*

Hehe! No, I didn't do a post because I was at Collectormania and by the time I got back I'd forgotten all about it

The line that stood out for me was when Ten put on the gas mask and said 'are you my mummy'

LOL!

Was that the line? Or was there something slashy that I missed?

Oh no, that was definitely the line. Mike and I were laughing so hard we had to stop the recording... and then of course we went back and watched the scene again!

Hee!!!! Yes, that made me laugh too
