Doctor Who
May. 11th, 2008 03:15 pmI fell asleep yesterday afternoon and I missed the first five minutes of Doctor Who but I watched most of it
Am I the only one who didn't really enjoy this episode and found the character of Jenny to be deeply annoying? Mostly because she reminded me of Emma Bunton. LOL!
I liked the overall plot, even if it was clearly a contrived re-telling of Genesis.
Come on, the world had only existed for seven days and it ends with The Doctor finding The Garden of Eden.
I liked Donna being smart and teaching The Doctor a little about himself.
I liked Martha and The Hath but I didn't feel any emotion at all when Jenny died. In fact it was pretty obvious it was going to happen.
Is she going to be in more episodes now that she's regenerated? I hope not.

Date: 2008-05-11 02:33 pm (UTC)I don't know who Emma Bunton is. Kristin Bell I would get.
The Martha/Hath part of the episode was much more compelling, though I do like some nice David Tennant angst.
Genesis project = Search for Spock, which I'm sure Mr. Greenhorn has memorized, since he borrowed from it liberally.

Donna was again a treat!

Date: 2008-05-11 03:54 pm (UTC)Then again, it might help if I watched it on my own when I review it.
I hate being interrupted mid-Who!

Date: 2008-05-11 10:14 pm (UTC)That last bit with Jenny spouting off about all the running she'd have to do seemed awfully like the hook for a spin-off to me.
I believe it could be well done, but probably not with the actress they've chosen. But then if they killed her off in the first episode and had her regenerate there might be hope. I'm thinking the actress who played the lesbian ghost in Hex. She'd be an interesting time-lord.

Date: 2008-05-12 02:03 pm (UTC)I thought it was an interesting premise, and a neat way to retell the story of "Genesis" (and that's coming from a non-Christian).
By the way - did you ever post about last week's episode? If so, I totally missed it! I expected a comment out of you on one particular line from that one! (Not that you were busy having fun at Collectormania or anything last week!) *smirk*

Date: 2008-05-12 05:03 pm (UTC)The line that stood out for me was when Ten put on the gas mask and said 'are you my mummy'
LOL!
Was that the line? Or was there something slashy that I missed?
