I'll probably treat it just like any other LJ day. If I have something to post on that day, or comment, then I will. If I don't, then I won't.

Hehe! I usually have stuff to post so it'll be a normal day for me

Honestly, I would take part in it, but I don't exactly agree with the message that's attached to it. I'm not demanding basic accounts be brought back; I can accept it was a business decision, and considering how much signs-ups and paid accounts have dropped, I can't say I really blame them for making that decision. (And most of the decrease is a result of 6A's actions, and not SUP.)

The problem I have with SUP is customer service, really. If the strike had a more general tone of 'hey, SUP - we're not satisfied with the way you've been handling things!' (instead of getting into specifics), I'd be all about it.

Yeah, I agree. All this stuff about how we, as users, should be consulted before any decision is made is silly. SUP is a business after all, and yes their customer service sucks but if people don't like it they are free to leave

None of the above! It's a bank holiday and I have got better things planned for the day that don't involve being online!

Hehe! It's all right for some! I'm stuck at my parents house looking after their cat while they're on holiday. I have nothing to do BUT be online

Heee - now of course something will come up in RL and I'll forget to post anything and be annoyed...:D But I plan to spam ... unless I forget.

Who's silly idea was it to pick a holiday weekend anyway?

Bah - I must be old. I don't pay attention to this stuff at all, I pay my dues, I post what and when I want, I comment to who I want when I want. The whole strike thing and whining about stuff just seems so high school.

Of course, I'm also a business owner and I've made decisions more than once that have landed me with egg on my face so I guess I'm just not really moved by stuff like this. *smirk*

Uh...the silly person who proposed the strike in the first place ;)

Hehe! Exactly! It's all getting a bit silly. They had a point when they were going to strike about things being removed from the common interests list but now it's just about the basic accounts it's silly

Not so much solidarity with fandom but respecting a picket line.

Here I am, your resident stalker. ;)

I don't think it has much to do with the fact that they didn't consult before. It's just they didn't even mention it AFTER they made the decision. It wasn't even in their news post. It was snuck in some backhanded way.

I mean, my dad has his own company ... I understands that they're a business first. But they need to be upfront about their decisions.

It was almost as if they were just waiting to see if we'd figure it out. And they say it only affects new people but really? A lot of people have multiple accounts and are making communities on a daily basis.

All of it just seems a bit immature.

Sorry, I didn't mean to go off. :)

Hehe! Hi resident stalker!

What you're saying is fine and I agree they should be upfront about it, but that's not what the strike is about. I took this from the person organising it

I will be emailing and snail-mailing SUP that the strike has four terms:

1. Restore basic accounts for new account creation.

2. Inform users before any change to the site that affects how we use the site or demands on our resources.

3. Run change proposals by the Advisory Board and take their advice into account before implementation of any change.

The fourth relates to the popular interests so I didn't include it now that has been resolved

That's not what I was hearing. Dude, I don't care about the coming back of basic accounts. I never had one and even when I had a Plus account, I can hardly remember the ads.

I guess I was wrong then. Sorry.

#3 is good in theory. What annoys me is that they created an advisory board but they don't even use them or tell them anything.

Look, if they want to run it like a business, fine. I don't care. But I think they should stop pretending it is some kind of democracy.

Is it really that hard?

Hehe! I know! I just don't see that a small portion of users (and it is small in the grand scheme of things. There's millions of accounts out there) strike it's not going to have much of an impact on anything. The only way it would work would be if the WHOLE of LJ went on strike and that's not going to happen

And honestly, the paid account thing ain't going to happen. Find me another site out there that you get for free and doesn't include ads.

I totally didn't know about this cuz i've been WITHOUT COMPUTER (not even just net, but computer entirely, *cries copiously*) for the past three days (i totally must hug my roommate again; he's letting me use his outlet to run an extension cord to power my comp, thus saving my sanity and possibly my life). But since i'll be away from technology all Easter weekend, i guess i'm participating by accident! Hee!

thx for spreading the word!
