I've got about 1200 songs on my iPod and 50 vids, a lot of which I stole from [livejournal.com profile] lexalicious70

Is there a way to store everything on my external hard drive so if my iPod breaks I don't lose everything

you can't make copies of anything that's on your ipod unless you've set your ipod up to act as a hard drive which you're able to do when you synced it. otherwise, you'll just have to get copies of all the media on it and then back that up.

I think it is set to act as a hard drive

if you did, then read through this (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61131) and this (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651). otherwise, gonna have to check the manual.

Cool, thanks :)

Such a crappy sysyem where you can't back stuff up like that. I probably wouldn't have bought an iPod if any of the other companies did something similar to mine for a similar price.

its not a crappy system. you just have to set it up ahead of time to do what you want. heh. they dont read minds.

Hee! Actually, I think mine was set to act as a hard disk as default so they're obviously learning

I just have my vids on CD so I can upload them with ease if I do erase them by accident. (Which I've done. NOOB.)
