1. Tokyo Godfathers - I knew nothing about this before we watched it for tonight's movie night. I didn't even realise it was animated until it started. I loved it! Nice to see a trans character who not only lives but also saves the day.
2. Ghostbusters Afterlife - I absolutely loved this! It managed to capture all the joy and nostalgia of the first two movies while feeling fresh at the same time. You can tell a lot of love for the franchise went into this.
3. Hamilton - I'm not sure thAis counts as a movie because it's just a recording of the broadway show, but it's as long as a movie so I'm including it here. When this dropped on Disney+ in 2020 I was right in the depths of lockdown depression and when I was feeling better I just never got around to it. I listened to the soundtrack obsessively back when it was at its most popular, and I've seen the show in London, but never with the original cast. I loved it! The show in London was fine, but there's no denying the original cast was something special.
4. Mystic Nine: Qing Shan Hai Tang - I've been looking forward to this ever since the trailer dropped and it did not disappoint. Full of nonsense, Zhu Zanjin and Liu Chang both looked great, sexual tension through the roof, big cgi monster at the end. Everything I wanted and then some.
5. Tomb of the Sea: Ran Gu - Another silly tombs spinoff movie that I watched because the lead character is in a fic I'm currently writing and I wanted to do some research. It was very silly, but not as silly as the one about haunted paint that I watched last year :D
6. Turning Red - I absolutely loved this! A real flashback to what I was like as a 13 year old. All the characters were great, the story was great. It was wonderful

7. Spider-Man: No Way Home - I always think that I'm done with Marvel and that the MCU just isn't something that interests me anymore, but whenever I watch a movie I do end up enjoying it. This was a lot of fun. I loved seeing the Spider-Man from the other movie franchises. Andrew Garfield was great, and he had wonderful chemistry with Toby Maguire.
