I was really trying hard to think of something. Generally I might let friends persuade me to watch shows I might not have considered but pairings are usually things I find on my own.
There is one notable exception that I just remembered, though.
So, back in my days in the MCU fandom I was pretty much only reading Steve/Tony or Tony/Pepper fics. Steve/Tony I'd shipped since I started reading comics, and Tony/Pepper was something I'd shipped since the first time I saw the first Iron Man movie at the cinema.
One day I was watching Thor with my housemate and the scene where Hawkeye is introduced came on. Again, I had been a huge Hawkeye fan since I started reading the comics so I was thrilled that he was being introduced to the MCU. Anyway, my housemate casually mentioned that she shipped him and Coulson after the scene with them talking to each other on the radio.
Honestly, I didn't see it, and I've shipped characters over less. It was weird because Phil Coulson was one of my absolute favourite things about Iron Man, and I loved Hawkeye already. The two characters clearly had history given the way they talked to each other. I don't know why it never occurred to me to ship them.
Anyway, my housemate sent me some Phil/Clint fics to read and pretty soon I was fully on board. I've since written 7 Phil/Clint fics of my own and read I don't even know how many.
