After he retires, Sid retreats to the Canadian wilderness and no one in the public hears from him for two years. But it's not like anyone forgets about him. Especially not Geno, who still keeps in touch by phone and e-mail, though he longs for more.

Geno is facing the prospect of life without the NHL when Sid's autobiography comes out. Suddenly everyone wants a comment. Geno didn't even know Sid was writing an autobiography.

But he knows now, and he knows--there’s no way to read Sid’s book except as a love letter to Geno, and even if he only meant it as a hockey love letter, it still is. Only Sid won't answer his calls.

Geno resolves to ask him about it in person. One problem: he has to find him first.

The first time Sid meets Geno, he isn’t Geno, he’s Evgeni Malkin, and he’s the enemy. Sid is so pumped up for the game he barely notices him. He doesn’t notice anything except hockey, and Malkin’s good, but that’s all he is.

He feels a tinge of sadness when Canada wins, but he guesses he just feels bad. Ovechkin’s not the only one crying, and Sid isn’t so unfeeling he doesn’t have some sympathy for how it must suck to lose. He also gets a headache when he flies back home, but he’s just really overtired is all.

He doesn’t think anything of it.

Sidney's drunk when he orders a Russian bride. He doesn't expect anyone to show up - and he definitely doesn't expect that person to be an awkward-looking guy who barely speaks English.
Wasn’t sure about this at first but it was actually adorable. I shouldn’t be surprised really. Most of the fics in this fandom are adorable.

He saw the horn poking out from the pony's head, golden and straight and somehow delicate-looking despite the empty tuna can hanging off of it. The unicorn horn. "The fuck," Sidney said out loud, his eye skipping from the horn over the greyish-white body to the graceful gold-toned hooves.
I should be surprised there is a hockey fic where Sid knows a unicorn and yet I am not

My Siberia: A Russian Knitting Circle Story by impertinence
The last thing you want to do with the guy you've been hung up on for ages is teach him how to be decent at sex. So of course, that's exactly what Geno does. Featuring interfering Russians, thorough devirginization, and equal parts alcohol imbibing and hockey playing.
Who wouldn’t love a fic about a bunch of matchmaking, protective, Russians :D

He opens the door, expecting to see Taylor or Matty or even his mom. Instead, he finds Geno.

This is about as close to an angsty fic as I’ve read and it’s still adorable. I love this fandom
