Work stuff
Jun. 24th, 2011 05:44 pmMonday night sees my last shift with Matt. These three months have actually gone really quickly. Remember when we first started working together and I was all nervous because we were the two newbies? Feels like an age ago.
So for the next three months things are a bit different. I'm moving into a position called 'floater'. You can laugh, we all do.
Basically it means that rather than working the standard shift pattern I am slotted in all over the place to cover for people who are on holiday or sick. It also means I'm expected to be on call on my days off so if one of the shift people calls in sick I have to cover (within reason obv. They're not going to make me do a 24 hour shift or anything insane).
It's going to be somewhat of a pain but the plus side is I get a 20% bonus at the end of September as compensation. I also get first refusal on any overtime for these three months.
This is good as I am in dire need of a new laptop and my car is due its MOT in August. I don't think there's anything wrong with the car but you never know.
I also need to pay
oddlyfamiliar back for my A7 upgrade.
Luckily for me one of the shift guys just handed in his notice so for the first month at least I am working regular shifts with Dan (my first shift partner who mocks my Misha love) while they look for a replacement.
Does anyone have any laptop recommendations btw? Something around the £400 mark with a decent amount of RAM
