Not Dead!

It just occurred to me that I should probably check in and report that I did not die at work last week as I thought I might ;) It actually went pretty well although I was knackered after working the extra shift.

Matt, my new shift partner, and I seem to be getting along pretty well. He's very blunt and doesn't mix his words but I think that's good and even though we're Team Newbie we're coping fine so far and that's a big weight off my mind.

He's talked me into watching Smallville and has even linked me to a streaming site that I can watch it during our night shift. He suggested skipping the eps of S8 that I missed (which was about half I think) and jumping to S9 which he says is really good. We shall see I guess.

Apart from that I had a pleasant weekend visiting Dave even if he did drag me on a five mile hike which nearly killed me ;)

I have photos from this trip and my visit with lou_angel to post so I'll try and get those up soon.

I've also realised that I need a new LJ header. As much as I love gazing upon Jared's hot bod it's a bit awkward when I want to read my flist at work as my boss sits right behind me. So if anyone has suggestions of a nice pic to use for a new header I'm all ears. So far I've had suggestions of Cas whispering in Sam's ear from 99 Problems and Misha making a fish face on the Impala window. Anything else people can think of?

Wut?

I appreciate I work in IT but I've always been a bit clueless when it comes to the networking side of things.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions for this.

When I got back from Dave's yesterday my internet connection was crap. My wireless strength was 2/5 and it took several refreshes to get any site to load. Same thing today so I moved my laptop downstairs (ie closer to the router) and my signal strength immediately jumped to full. Now, I'm sure this was working just fine on Friday and I can't think of anything that might be blocking the signal upstairs. Any suggestions? My iPhone uses the same wireless connection and that seems to work fine in my bedroom.

I am confuzzled.

It's not really practical for me to just use my computer downstairs, especially when I have to do things like Skype meetings for Random Acts. It's not really fair on jacqui_hw to have to listen to me over the TV for 2+ hours.
