Woo! Nashville!
Feb. 27th, 2011 04:38 pmJust paid for my photo ops for Nashville. Not long to go now! Just over 3 months.
OMG MY BANK BALANCE! 2 photo ops cost me over $200. Thank God I'm splitting them with a couple of my friends.
I do have to say that this will be the last Creation convention that I attend. I had a blast at Chicon but that was mostly down to my awesome friends that I was with. The actual organisation of the event was shockingly bad, the staff were rude and treated us like shit. I've also heard some pretty shocking accounts of things that went on behind the scenes at LACon. This was told to me in confidence so I can't go into details but it honestly sickens me the way they treat attending fans like money churning cattle.
I appreciate Creation are a business and they're in it to make money, but they're also providing a service. I can't think of many places that would get away with treating paying customers the way Creation does. Unfortunately they had the rights to SPN cons in the US so they can charge whatever they want, treat people however they want and people will continue to pay. One of the people I was with at Chicon actually wrote a lengthy complaint to the company afterwards and the only response she got was 'well, everyone else had a good time'.
Since I don't live in the US there is no need for me to attend their events. There's plenty of decent cons here in the UK and in Europe that I can go to. It just makes me sad because US cons are a great way to meet up with all my US LJ friends.
And that's my rant for the day.
I am looking forward to Nashville though, but mostly for seeing my friends and the city.
