HOLY CRAP YOU GUYS I AM TIRED! Password Reset Tuesday was pretty manic and I'm about ready to faceplant onto my keyboard.
But I have had good news today. Boss pulled me aside and said he's recommending I get offered a permanent contract \o/
I really do like it where I work. Everyone is really friendly and nice and always willing to help if there's something I don't know how to do. I've been made to feel really welcome and it honestly feels like I've worked there for ages rather than a month. The shift guys in particular have really made me feel part of the gang.
Then I had ANOTHER chat with my boss this afternoon about something else and after we were done talking he said he'd found my Twitter after my interview (and he offered me the job anyway so YAY). I did have a momentary panic but he said he doesn't pry into people's personal lives. He just had a look because I'd mentioned setting up a Twitter for
writerconuk in my interview and he was looking for that.
Checked with Dan afterwards just in case and he said boss is of the opinion that so long as the work gets done he doesn't really care about anything else so not to worry about my Twitter. He said the only thing I should worry about was boring my boss to death with all the talk of Misha ;)
Boss and I had a nice chat actually when he was joking about how many tweets I've made. I explained that I use Twitter as an IM service and I have friends all over the world so I always have people to talk to. He said he's the same and he has friends all over the US and in Australia too.
I told him about my plans to go to Nashville this year (didn't mention the con - one step at a time) and cheekily added that I couldn't book it until I had a permanent contract. Boss said to leave it with him and he'd get it sorted for me \o/
Then when I got home I had nice post. I had a Christmas card from
morganoconner (with the cutest, teeniest, tinest handwriting ever), a copy of the SPN TV Guide from
cassiopeia7 and a letter from my letting agency.
There's a reason the last one is nice post. When we moved I had to pay six months rent in advance as I didn't have a job. I just assumed it would be like that all the time. Paying my rent in six month chunks. The next payment is due this month so I've been saving all my money to cover it. Except now they've said I'm switching to monthly installments. Which means if I get the permanent contract (which is sounding like a sure thing now) I already have the money to pay for my Nashville ticket and the flights too! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! And this is before I get my bonus and overtime payment at the end of this month \o/
I am a very happy Hils right now.
