Sorry to go all srs bsns for a moment but I need some advice

I was talking to my mum at the weekend and she seemed really surprised that I haven't signed on for Jobseekers Allowance yet (I think it's un-PC to call it the dole these days). Now, I've had my reasons, the foremost being that I didn't feel comfortable claiming money that I don't need. I've still got a healthy sized chunk of my redundancy money left and even when I buy a car to start going for job interviews I should still have a reasonable amount left.

The other reason is I'm not ready to start looking for a job yet. I've got some exams I want to study for first and really I'm probably not going to start actively looking until I get back from Chicago. It's only six weeks until I fly out and I'm not sure many employers would be thrilled with me needing to take three weeks off so soon after starting work.

But my mum said if I don't sign on it'll affect my pension/national insurance. Is that right?

I'm assuming we're talking canon here but either way my answer is still Sam and Dean. No, not Dean and Castiel, you read that right. It's Sam and Dean's show. There wouldn't even be a Castiel because the show wouldn't have got that far if Sam and Dean's friendship hadn't been as engaging as it was. So while I love my little nerdy dude with wings, it's still all about Sam and Dean.
