Right,
jacqui_hw has been discussing strong female characters with someone at work. A male someone. And he used Lana Lang as an example.
Uh, no. Excuse me while I rant about how Lana is so far from a strong female character.
It boils down to one simple thing. Lana Lang defines herself by her boyfriends. It's very obvious that she changes her personality from man to man that she has dated and she is seemingly incapable of going for more than a few episodes as a single woman. Without a boyfriend she is nothing
Whitney - When Lana dates Whitney she is a cheerleader. Perfect match for the football player. She dumps him by video message because she is too cowardly to do it face to face
Clark - Don't even get me started. I'll just reference her most recent arc where all her hardass training was just so that she could get superpowers to be with Clark
Jason - Well, since Lana spent most of her time with him possessed by a witch I'm not sure what I can say about this
Lex - Out of nowhere Lana decides to try and match Lex's intelligence by becoming an astrology major at college despite having no previous interest in the subject. Then she moves in with him and does nothing except 'learn how to be a Luthor'
I find it quite ironic that Lana for so much of the time complains about people treating her like a victim but really all she wants is for a nice strong man to take care of her.
I'm sure I've missed stuff. Join in and give me more evidence so I can bash this guy I don't even know over the head with it. LOL!
