1. Sir Apropos of Nothing - Peter David

What a wonderful way to start my reading year. This book was brilliant! Hilariously funny in places and utterly tragic in others. I cannot recommend it enough. And there's two more books in the series so I shall have to get them

I also want Knight Life. A lot!

Next on the list is Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark by Campbell Black

Oh dear God, no!

Some things just need to be left alone!

Honestly, I feel the same way about film remakes as I do about cover versions of songs. WHY? There's plenty of script writers out there with original ideas. USE THEM!

Snagged from all over my flist

In the interest of spreading more joy, I’m proposing that today, Thursday, January 15th, we each engage in one act, either here on or outside of LJ, which brings joy to another person, in the hopes that that person will spread that joy further, and exponentially onward.

Some ideas I had of things we could do:

Write a fic, make an icon, make a vid, or make a fanart for someone. Buy someone paid time or userpics. Leave someone a nice comment. Say something nice about something fannish someone else loves. Say something nice about something fannish you love and encourage squee (and squee on someone else’s post if they make one!). Offer to beta for someone. Offer to donate five dollars to the charity of someone's choice. Send flowers to an online friend in a different city. Buy someone you know online a present. Or a virtual present. Plant a tree or a flower in someone's honor and take a picture of it and post it to your LJ. When somebody cuts you off at work, wish them well and hope they get where they’re going safely. Make somebody a friendship bracelet. Or a construction paper heart. Call someone you love and tell them so. Or anything else you can think of!

Then on Thursday, make a post saying what you've done (or a note that it's More Joy day), and that will hopefully help spread things further.

What do you think? Are you in with me?

I gave Greg my copy of Sir Apropos of Nothing because it's just his sort of book

I will offer icons and/or drabbles to anyone who asks :)

I have written several pages of my mpreg today *is pleased with self*

I think it's going to need A LOT of work before it's anywhere near a publishable state. At the moment I'm just writing down whatever comes into my head, I'll do a hefty edit when I type it up and then I'm sure [livejournal.com profile] danceswithgary will do her usual stellar beta job on it.

I'm kind of getting into now though, which is what I was looking for :)

Greg and I have been roped into working on Sunday. Just for a few hours but it's a pain. Still, double time for it so that's money that can go towards my holiday/moving fund. Speaking of holidays would it be bad to suggest to Ros we go to Paris on the Eurostar and then here for my birthday?

Was told yesterday that my contract will likely be extended by another 3 months as the new system is still way behind schedule. Not complaining here. I'd really rather not be made unemployed during a recession, thanks.

Now I have a question or more of a rambling musing really. In theory, at the end of Feb, I will have enough spare cash to buy an Xbox 360. I have wanted one for AGES but at the same time I'm wary of getting one. I know what I'm like. I get addicted to things very easily. Who here remembers the days of DOA Volleyball? Anyway, I'm a bit concerned that if I get one I will just spend the rest of forever playing Tomb Raider and not getting any writing done.

*ponders*

Woah!

Ros seemed really keen on the idea of going to Paris and spending my birthday at Camelot \o/

We're going to try and make the Italy thing happen first but it looks like Paris will be second choice
