I'm working on the prompts for
old_school_clex
In the US do you have a similar thing to what we in the UK call Work Experience? Where you spend a couple of weeks in a workplace (usually around age 15) seeing what it's like to have a full-time job. Usually people opt for a workplace which is connected with something they are considering for a career.
Oh, and if you have that what do you call it?

Greg: What are you writing?
Me: Uh...*blushes* Smallville fanfiction
Greg: What's it about?
Me: Well, I'm on this community that gives prompts and then you have to write a story based on the prompt. I've got 'leaving behind a family member'
Greg: Oh, right. So what's the plot?
Me: Well, it's mostly about Conner
Greg: I thought Conner was in Angel.
Me: No, Conner as in Kon-El. The product of Lex combining his genes with Clark
Greg: OHH! Superboy!
Me: Yeah. So it's about him and his parents.
Greg: His parents being...Clark and Lex?
Me: Yup
Greg: So it's a slash story
Me: Uh, yeah
Greg: Can't say I'm suprised. I'm not one to mock anyway, I'm writing a D&D story.
*pause*
Lex and Superman can't have sex! It's just weird.
Me: I thought the same thing until I saw Smallville. It's an entirely different dynamic between them
Greg: Hey, look up Mon-El. You could work him into it too!

Now, I know I haven't seen Prison Break yet but surely Tom Welling is prettier than Wentworth Miller.
Why, then, is Tom over 100 votes behind in this poll?

Friend meme
Apr. 11th, 2007 01:32 pmA few people on my flist have posted it but I stole from
danceswithgary
1 - Tell you why I friended you. Assuming I can remember :)
2 - Associate you with something. A fandom, a song, a color, a piece of fruit. SOMETHING.
3 - Tell you something I like about you.
4 - Tell you a memory I have of you.
5 - Associate you with a character/pairing.
6 - Ask something I've always wanted to know about you. (Or else I'll just ask a random question)
7 - Tell you my favorite user pic of yours.
8 - In return, you must spread this disease in your LJ.

Why I love LJ
Apr. 11th, 2007 02:27 pmYou know, I've been thinking about this a lot recently, but I really love my flist. I've got such a wonderfully diverse group of people on here.
I've got people who are teenagers right through to people who are older than my parents. Gay, bi, straight, parents, grandparents, singletons, they're all here and I'm proud to be part of such a wonderful group
*loves you all*

Books I've read this year
Apr. 11th, 2007 10:37 pm1. The Odyssey - Homer
2. Smallville: The Comics - Misc
3. The Haunting of Alaizabel Cray - Chris Wooding
4. Lex Luthor: Man of Steel - Brian Azzarello & Lee Bremejo
5. The Ultimates: Super-Human - Mark Millar
6. The Ultimates: Homeland Security - Mark Millar
7. Supreme Power - J. Michael Straczynski, Jeff Youngquist, Gary Frank
8. Cursed - Med Odom
9. The Big Over Easy - Jasper Fforde
10. Fantastic Four: Imaginauts - Mark Waid
I wasn't especially blown away by Fantastic Four. There were some nice enough stories and it was all quite sweet but nothing that really grabbed me.
Next on the list is Ultimate Spider-Man by Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Bagley and Bill Jemas. I have been assured by Greg that it's brilliant but we shall see...

Apr. 11th, 2007 10:40 pmI'm not posting the Google Maps New York to London thing because I posted it 3 days ago and you all ignored me
*sits in the corner and pouts*
Well, I suppose I can't help it if you're all late-comers to the gag ;)
