Finding time for fanfiction
Sep. 8th, 2005 08:01 amThose naughty people over at
archielives have been feeding my plot bunnies in an attempt to get me to write a denial!fic. I really would love to, but I can barely find the time to write my WIPs, never mind start a new story
When did this happen? I used to write ALL the time. Every weekend without fail. I can't remember the last time I wrote something. Poor Sean is ill in bed with Viggo angsting over what to do. William has just been shot by the evil Pirate Angel, with Elizabeth now being forced to marry the pirate. These characters need help and I'm letting them suffer!
I am a bad fic writer *nods*
God knows when I'm going to find time over the next few weeks either. This weekend we're getting the house ready for next week's party, the weekend after it IS the party, the weekend after that I'm in Brugge and the weekend after that I'm going to Germany to visit

Crap!
Look at your LJ interests list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

How I petted Archie
Sep. 8th, 2005 05:32 pmArchie (the adopted kitty) was sitting on the gate post when I walked home today so I wandered over and petted him. Normally he's sat in the garden so I just say hello and carry on walking. This is the first time I've actually been able to pet him. He's a very affectionate kitty, rubbing his face all over my hand and demanding more attention. LOL. Couldn't stand there all day though, much as I wanted to. As I moved away I thought maybe I could take a photo of him as there was no one around. Alas, as soon as I stopped petting him he decided he'd had enough and hopped down and wandered away
Ah well
No sign of Horatio today

Colour me stunned
Sep. 8th, 2005 10:41 pmI just watched The Calcium Kid
I liked it. Not only that I liked Orlando. Rather a lot. I think
jacqui_hw was right. His niche is clearly in comedy. Elizabethtown should be good

Film Squee!
Sep. 8th, 2005 10:48 pmWe got a free trailer DVD with a film magazine today. I am VERY excited about the following films
Brothers Grimm
Chronicles of Narnia
Elizabethtown
Flightplan
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
History of Violence
King Kong
Legend of Zorro
Serenity
Corpse Bride
Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the were-rabbit
I'm especially excited about Brother Grimm, which looks very Tim Burtonesque (or is it that Tim Burton is very Terry Gilliamesque?). Chronicles of Narnia looks set to be this years Lord of the Rings. I wonder if Peter Jackson realises just what he's done to aid the fantasy genre. Elizabethtown looks lovely and cuddly, just like its two main stars. Flightplan looks a bit crap but shall see it for Beanie. Goblet of Fire is my favourite Harry Potter book so I'm VERY excited. The trailer has convinced me that History of Violence won't be that bad. King Kong is going to be great, but OMG has anyone seen Peter Jackson recently? He's lost so much weight I didn't recognise him! Legend of Zorro is going to be silly but fun. Been looking forward to Serenity since I saw Firefly! Corpse Bride, well it's my favourite duo of Johnny and Tim. Do you have Wallace and Gromit in the US? I love them!

The day after Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Repent America issued a press release. In it, they implied that Hurricane Katrina was a judgement from God on New Orleans, particularly on Southern Decadence, New Orleans' annual queer end-of-summer bash.
Eh, they're just some tiny fringe group, right?
Well, Agape Press, the American Family Association's news service (and nobody can claim that the AFA isn't right in the heart of Christian activism) posted an article misleadingly titled New Orleans Residents: God's Mercy Evident in Katrina's Wake. They don't just imply.
The pastor explains that for years he has warned people that unless Christians in New Orleans took a strong stand against such things as local abortion clinics, the yearly Mardi Gras celebrations, and the annual event known as "Southern Decadence" -- an annual six-day "gay pride" event scheduled to be hosted by the city this week -- God's judgment would be felt.
“New Orleans now is abortion free. New Orleans now is Mardi Gras free. New Orleans now is free of Southern Decadence and the sodomites, the witchcraft workers, false religion -- it's free of all of those things now," Shanks says. "God simply, I believe, in His mercy purged all of that stuff out of there -- and now we're going to start over again."
Last I checked, this isn't what Christianity is about. I thought Christianity wasn't about exploiting human suffering.
Show me that it's not. Take a stand.
Repost this. Don't just link it, copy it and repost it. Ask your friends to repost this. Find out where they really stand when they don't.
