The Bad:

We have a bonus system at work in which 50% of staff in the building get a fairly hefty payout in August. We have to state on a form why we think we deserve one and then our line managers agree or disagree. Finally, another group of people get all the forms and make a final decision based on the line managers recommendation.

Guess who didn't get recommended for a bonus? I wouldn't mind if I hadn't done anything worthwhile to deserve one, but I've worked really hard and beaten all my targets despite only being in the job 8 months or so. I've gotten involved in committees to help better the working environment and just basically done my bit. My line managers reasoning for not recommending me? I haven't worked on any special projects this year while other people in my office have.

Now, HE is the one who decides who gets given extra projects. You can't volunteer for them or anything like that. So basically he is saying that I won't be getting a bonus because he didn't give me any extra work to do. I've done everything I possibly can and more and it's counted for nothing. I was so upset this afternoon I nearly burst into tears. I just felt really worthless and unappreciated. That money would have been very useful for when I move house.

There is a SLIM chance that the outside panel will read my comments and overule my line managers decision, but this will only happen if less than 50% are deemed suitable in the first place.

My annual report also said I would benefit from staying in my current office for at least another year. FAT BLOODY CHANCE. Time for Hils to start job hunting.

So, that was bad. Then I got home to find my Buffy doll had arrived. RAN to the Post Office and got there 1 minute too late so I got all sweaty and hot for nothing. Have to go back tomorrow which I really don't have time to be messing around with. LOTS to do and no time. So much for a restful long weekend.

My taxes are right, apparently, so that's £300 I have to cough up over the next year. Like I don't have enough money things to worry about already. This moving lark is going to cost me a fortune. I'll have to live like a hermit for the first 4 months and not buy anything except food.

The Good:

Babylon 5 Season 3 has FINALLY arrived. Won't have time to watch it until at least next Wednesday but at least it's here.

I now have 2, yes TWO pirate ships! Between us Dave and I managed to work out how to do sea combat and I now have the making of my own fleet. You may address me as Commodore Hils ;)

Londo Doll has finally been prised from his box. See my icon!

Good news!

Hmm...all the other UK based friends on my LJ are talking about snow *peeks out of window* Nothing here

Urgh, I have so much to do today and it's all crappy stuff like tidying the house. No time for writing today

And of course I have to go to the Post Office and pick up my Buffy doll

On the plus side I have my night out with [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalhel to look forward to tonight, and hopefully I can get some writing done over the weekend (when my hangover has gone anyway)

I'm also under instructions to watch the Extended Edition of Two Towers at some point since I got it for Christmas and haven't watched it yet

Then Monday will be spend playing Pirates A LOT I reckon
