More cruise stuff
Aug. 3rd, 2003 01:13 pmThis is the response I got when I asked when we would start to get guest confirmations
Hello Hilary, good question. But I think you are jumping the gun a little?
I cannot post any guests until we have an exact ship, date, port and destination - As we have to give the guests the dates first so they can confirm their availability.
The people who have sent deposits already are patrons who plan to attend pretty much irregardless of whom the final guests will be, as they know that no matter what, the cruise will be a blast! And that we will have at least 7-10 stars onboard!
Another very important thing to remember is that the guest line-up will most certainly change several times over the next two years, as new guests are added and other guests are dropped due to any scheduling conflicts.
Plus the more patrons we get, creating more revenue - the more guests we will be able to invite !
You need to really look at it this way: What you are actually buying tickets to, is as a Buffy Themed Cruise, as it will be almost impossible to 100% guarantee that a specific guest star will be onboard by the time the cruise sails in 2005.
And to be perfectly honest: ALL stars have cancellation clauses in their contracts for conventions and any other appearances. So, please be aware that even when ANY convention announces a specific guest star - there is still only a 50/50 chance that that star will definitely appear !
So all of you fans that are making plans to travel by plane (or even overseas in some cases) to see a specific "favorite star" of yours - please be aware that you may not get to see that guest if he/she cancels. And that often the cancellation can occur a week or less before the event !
That is the God's honest truth ! But fortunately it rarely happens, I don't want to scare anyone, it's just the facts.
Also, please remember that the cruise deposit is fully refundable until we announce the initial guests and the actual itinerary, and you then you must confirm your deposit, or request a refund.
And lastly, just because I don't announce one of your favorite stars right away, that does not mean that he/she will not be aboard. It just means they have not signed a contract to appear yet, and I cannot in all fairness advertise their name as appearing, until I get that signed agreement from them. (That is why I have posted the names of the stars that have shown an "interest" in attending. And have not listed them as "confirmed")
So if you do think you want to go on the cruise and you wait too long hoping for a certain guest, two things may happen: 1) the cruise may sell out, and 2) the prices may go up as that is standard practice in the cruise industry after a certain date as cabins space starts selling out.
I hope if anything I have helped open everyone's eyes a little to what it's really like to try to run an event, when your primary guests can cancel on a moments notice. So all we can do is always have a back-up plan and a back-up star ready to go! To quote an old Hollywood saying : "The Show Must Go On !"
Regards,
Vulkon
