They're not being very subtle

Something which has only just occurred to me. The creators of Merlin have openly said that the show was inspired by Smallville. Now, look at Merlin's preferred wardrobe: Red shirt and blue neckscarf or blue shirt and red neckscarf

They're not even trying here, are they. LOL! What next: Arthur goes bald?

I'm a bit worried they're going to go down that route with Gwen/Arthur at some point, there were hints of it in the final episode. I really hope the writers are a bit more subtle and gradual about it though...

Agreed. I mean, in my head their marriage will be based purely on friendship, mutual respect, and a shared vision for Camelot (while they each have lovers on the side, obviously). And that’s all I personally got from those scenes in the last episodes, but I’ll admit I have my slash goggles on like whoa. I understand that they may fall in love in the show and whatnot.

Since I like Gwen, I could totally be okay with that, but NOT if they start trying to make it a big focus. As you say, subtlety and gradualness is the key. To switch comparisons, I hope it’s not a case of “OMG SUDDEN CHEST MONSTER” a la Harry Potter. If they’re going to make them fall in love, I hope they can pull it off gracefully. Which, as an avid TV watcher, I know is a really rare thing, but still. I'm encoraged by the fact that they haven't made any romantic realtionship a big focus so far.

Yeah, I'm really crossing my fingers that they do it properly
