Ok, the first, and most important question is how the hell are they going to wrap this up in the Season 8 premiere without Michael. Is Lex just going to magically disappear? Actually, knowing the writers that's probably exactly what will happen

Also, they must have included that 'I love you like a brother' line so the Clexers could ignore the brother bit and be happy that at the end the boys do still love each other, even if they're both totally messed up. It seemed right that Michael's last scene had Lex holding Clark in his arms. It makes me happy, or as happy as I can get about the show these days

The Lana scene had me very emotionally confused. At first I was angry that they had her leave so he could be Superman, as we all speculated she would, and also that she dumped him on video. Did she learn nothing from what happened with Whitney?

But as soon as Clark started to cry, and Lois hugged him and I was bawling my eyes out. Really, Clark crying just brings out all kinds of maternal instincts that I didn't even know I had and I just wanted to hug him.

But, back to my annoyances, why does Lois want Clark to work at The Planet? Has he demonstrated any sort of reporter savvy in the whole time they've known each other? They might as well have written it as follows

Lois: Clark, I've got you an application form for a job at The Daily Planet
Clark: Uh...why?
Lois: Because it's comic book canon, stupid. Incidentally, you will be in love with me next year
Clark: ...

So, that brings me to the end of my extremely rocky relationship with Smallville. I'm still in awe that a show can bring me so much joy and so much anger and disappointment at the same time.

Edit: And they totally destroyed the fortress so Clark can build it again when he's ready to become Superman. Way to retcon, writers.

I bet they'll use this as an excuse for Lex to conveniently forget all his time in Smallville too

And Michael definitely made the right move by leaving. The show was insane by the end and made me angry

What's so wrong with it by now? Season 6 still sounds alright, from summaries I've read... I kind of found it somewhat loses it in Season 4 mainly due the sheer amount of STUFF going on that doesn't seem to get resolved due to time constraints.. Lex dying of poisoning and then being alright again being the main example, or the actual motif of the Teagues never being fully made clear... I'm annoyed with Clark at the moment, in Season 5 because he's being too much like Jonathan. And Lana was annoying since halfway through Season 1 but that's just me lol

And we've created a "third universe" in which Clark tells Lex everything before Lex gets the chance to be that messed up, and they do live happily ever after and rule the world, like Jor-El wanted Clark to. What he doesn't seem to understand is that to rule the world he doesn't have to be a dictator! *headshake* naive little thing.

Take all the problems from Season 4 and times it by ten for Season 7

It starts off quite well but then loses the plot. Plus Clark acts like a total ass and made me hate him for quite a while

It kinda seems like the writers are forcing his development toward him being more Superman-like.. as in, in love with Lois and hating Lex, when really he has a lot more time than than. I think of Superman being in his LATE twenties, early thirties! He doesn't have to work at the Daily Planet JUST yet, and Lois, well, they have a masquerade of many years once they're in love anyway, no need to rush into things that, well, have nothing more to do with Smallville, really...

Really, I have so many issues with the writers of this show. They have no idea how to write steady characterisation and plot. Half the time what's happening makes no sense at all and the other half just contradicts stuff that happened earlier in the show (sometimes just a couple of episodes earlier)

Yeah... in a way, that doesn't bother me because we make up our own stuff and mix and match different canons here and there anyway, ESPECIALLY with DC chronology, because it's so all over the place. But it does cheapen it a bit when the writers don't really bother to keep notes on little facts like Lex's health or how old Chloe was when her mum left, etc. The more mistakes the canon writers make, the more right the fans have to rewrite everything ;) But well-thought out canons are too rare considering how high-profile it's all supposed to be.

I'm kind of wanting to write the Death of Superman... for real, that is. They'll never kill him in DC chronology anyway, so I can make up my own death for him, and I think the only possibility is for him and Lex to kill each other... in the burnt remains of the Smallville mansion.

I don't think they'll get it in this universe, too much damage has been done. :( But DC work with 52 different universes, I work with an infinite amount, and for Smallville/Superman we have three significant ones. lol One where Lex has hair because he was never there when the meteor shower came down. He and Clark never know each other. Then the "canon" one, which I'm afraid ends with that showdown for me... and they kill each other because neither of them can see any other way out. And the third, where everything's alright, President Lex and Kal-El rule the world!

Well, sadly Michael left before Clark and Lex could get any sort of closure, which disappoints me a lot. It wasn't really a proper ending for them and they deserved it

Yeah, maybe he should've nagged a bit more about the fact that he REALLY WAS going to leave. it kinda seems to me as though the writers didn't really believe it and they were never gonna give Lex and Clark any closure because that's what keeps a TV series going.
