Weather and WIPs

Am I the only one who struggles to read fic written in the second person? It's just an instant put off for me and more often than not I won't even finish reading it.

I got snowed on whilst walking home. Damn unpredicatble weather. It's been lovely and warm this week until today *glowers* It had better be nice this weekend when I'm in Glastonbury is all I can say

Tonight I will be watching Heroes and some more of Being Human. That's pretty much all I have planned.

Oh, and here is a meme I snagged from all over

Post a single sentence from each WIP you have (or as many as you want to pick). No context, no explanations. No more than one sentence!

I generally don't have more than one WIP on the go at any time but I did abandon ship from a couple of Smallville fics which I intend to finish this year.

1. "How are things going with Lucas?" he asked as he watched Lex lifting hay bales and tried to ignore the way he could see Lex's muscles rippling beneath his tight shirt.

2. Once upon a time there was a town so minute in size that it was named Smallville.

3. "It's all right," he whispers as he cradles Merlin in his arms, "I've got you."

Not just you, I wouldn't go as far to say I have never ever enjoyed a second person story, but it's a damn rare thing. I suspect it takes about ten times the amount to get right as a normal story would. I'm wary of the present tense and first person too, sometimes they can be used wonderfully, but all too often they can seem clunky. But maybe I'm just being too harsh.

First person is tricky. I don't use it personally but I've read a couple of fics that made it work

For some reason I can't stop writing in the present tense. I think I've forgotten how to write past tense fics. Weirdly it only seems to be Merlin fics. LOL!

I think I've read one story in second person, done as an experiment. Do you come across this often?

Not often, no, but there seems to be more recently. Maybe it's a Merlin fandom thing.

I love writing in the second person; interestingly enough, it is somewhat more difficult to read than write.

I tried watching Being Human and just couldn't get into it, at all. Its only redeeming feature, as far as I am concerned, is Mitchell's pretty face. And cute fingerless gloves.

Mmm...Mitchell is very pretty.

I've only seen two episodes so far and I'm not hooked but I'm curious enough to watch more.

I must admit, second person tends to remind me of those "Choose-your-own-adventure" books that used to be a guilty pleasure of mine as a kid. Which is probably not what the writers intended... :-)

LOL!!! You're right actually!

I vote you finish WIP #1!

Hee!! Well, I'm going to finish them all. Sadly WIP #1 is currently last on the list :(
