Daily Merlin Support
Here's today's question. If you had carte blanche to write Saturday's episode (but keeping it realistic, ie no sex between Merlin and Arthur) what would you want to happen?
Personally I wouldn't see anyone die. Not for good anyway. I'd like the episode to end with everyone alive and happy. Sadly, I don't think that will happen
Are people feeling less anxious about the finale now that series 2 has been confirmed? I'm still feeling wibbly but just because I hate to see characters I love sad and in pain :(

I guess I'd like to see some movement with Gwen - I mean how on earth are they going to get her into the role of Queen unless there is some huge revelation about her 'true birth' or parentage but maybe that will be further along.
I'd like to see Morgana make a further step towards magic and considering that Merlin was originally Uther's friend and advisor maybe, maybe some glimpse of that.
I see Nimue is back in this episode so maybe a change in her and Merlin's relationship - it looked rather Avalonian, as a place for healign the King, though they may have already wrecked that by the episode with the Sidhe.
I enjoy the series though still tear my hair out at all the Arthurian non-canon stuff in it. Seriously..

I would definitely like to see some development of Gwen too. I really want to like her but so far her character has been pretty boring. The closest she came to being interesting was when she yelled at Arthur for turning his nose up at the peasant food. I'd like to see more stuff like that.
I definitely think that if they kill off Gaius that Morgnana will take over as Merlin's magic confidante. I think they sort of understand each other a little after the episode with Mordred.
Plenty of scope for interesting things to happen but I think most of that will be next year

Personally I don't really want to see anyone die. I want it to end with Arthur becoming un-dead and loads of people suddenly realising that Merlin is magic...*cue forty million fics to keep us going until second series*
Today, in my quest not to worry too much about who will die I will
a) Watch all the episodes on my Merlin DVD
b) Watch them all again with the commentary.
c) Squee over the extras on the DVD.
YAY!!!

Idk, In the proper Arthurian legend thing, Isn't Nimueh like .. good? rofl. It would be cool If Arthur died/was near death and Merlin took Arthur to her for ~help~ or something. Idk. Though obviously it doesnt really look like thats happening in the preview. Though previews are constantly lying to me ;_;

He teaches her his magic and then puts a move on her (he is very old) and she uses what he has taught her to weave an enchantment that traps him in a hawthorn tree or oak.
I've actually done a fair amount of work to restore the whole Nimue/Vivien (another way the name is spelt) & Merlin archetype as I found it impacted on my life; seeing their relationship as more on the student/teacher and that what she did wasn't trapping him but creating a place for him in his old age so he wouldn't die.
This is borne out in some Arthurian legends as Nimue becomes Arthur's advisor and friend in Merlin's place and also becomes a queen.
My living room is adorned by an original painting of Merlin and Nimue based on this relationship.

1. Nobody dies.
2. Morgana standing by her seer powers
3. Uther and Merlin bonding over Arthur's momentary loss
But, mostly? 1. Even as I suspect is not very likely :/

But #1 most of all, yes.

So long as everyone makes it out alive at the end of the ep, I'll be happy.

What I'd really like to see this episode is Morgana grow certain of her powers - which looks likely considering the 'This is only the beginning...' quote - and perhaps Merlin will have to confide in her about his magic so they can work together in saving Arthur.
I'm going to be a bit evil and disagree with you, I actually want to see Merlin get sad and angry because I feel like he's been so nice throughout (which is endearing, obviously) and it'd be interesting to see the effect his anger at Nimueh has on his powers and if it darkens him at all, cause we've already heard the debate about magic corrupting etc. It'll be interesting to see how he overcomes it - cause I'm sure he will.
Also, thought I'd give a link to the geek syndacate interview with Julian Jones who is one of the writers for Merlin. He said some interesting things about how the Dragon will surprise us and things like that - though I have suspected it might have it's own agenda for a while: http://www.geeksyndicate.co.uk// just scroll down to episode 101 :D
Woah. This post is long. Obsessed much?

And you have just totally reassured me now I know they're not getting rid of any cast. I am happy now!
And the dragons agenda is totally to get Merlin and Arthur in bed together. LOL!
No, seriously, I agree. I definitely thinks he wants Uther dead. Having Merlin on his side means that Arthur will be more inclined to set the dragon free I think.

someone said somewhere that uther used to be a friend of merlin's, in the legend...i dont recall that, what i recall is that merlin helped uther to get a child (arthur) because merlin knew about the once and future king business...or something...em...could be totally wrong though...
anyway, back to topic...i dont want anyone to leave the show...and i would love for the episode to end with arthur being alive and with merlin being back where he belongs and no nasty 'payment' on his part...
but i dont think that will happen either...

Or they could make a "Avalon like" place but with another name. Or don't give a name...

If someone from the Big 6 has to go my money's on Gaius as being the most expendable. However, someone Merlin loves could also cover his Mum - important but peripheral in a Gwen's dad type of way.
As to ep itself, am looking forward to seeing Nimue again. Hoping Arthur doesn't spend 40 minutes unconscious/missing again.

Uther and Merlin bonding. Or Morgana and Merlin bonding over the loss of Arthur
(And Morgana knowing about Merlin's magic and helping him with it. Because it'd be awesome)
I don't want anyone to die.

That's the stills for this weeks episode. I don't want to spoil people or anything, but I like basically started crying. Gah.

1) A flashback to a younger Uther and how the hell he caught the
slashdragon.2) Immediately followed by a flash forward where Uther confronts the dragon - he realises he has to save Arthur through magic, and the dragon realses he needs Uther's help. Together they will fight crime! I mean, save Arthur!
3) A Questing Beast (see Once and Future King *g*) introduced into the background, all causal-like. :)
4) Merlin using magic in front of Arthur, and it not being explained away.
5) The boys hugging. That's not too unrealistic, now is it?
Oh, and in the words of the Doctor? Everybody lives!
