Oh good, you liked it and still want to write Clex. Yay!

I think both the boys were hurting so bad in this scene that they weren't really thinking about what they were saying. They just wanted to hurt each other and it worked.
That is *such* a great interpretation of it. That's the scene that made me angry, because I just could not get over Clark saying that if Lex had tried harder, Lionel would have been proud and loved him.

I also think that no matter who Clex is talking about, they're actually talking about each other. It's in everything they do. Lex says that a billionaire shouldn't want anything to do with a farm boy; Clark retorts that if Lex would have tried harder, it would have been different.

It gives me hope that if Lex were to work at it (not that he will, but for fanfic purposes) that Clark could forgive him too in the end.
That, too, is a great interpretation. I really hope you're right. I really, really do, but I just can't see it in Clark anymore. I liked "Descent" a lot, but it left me feeling so hopeless where Clex is concerned.
