Uh...

Yes, I'm late to this

The first thing I did when I finished reading this was throw it across my desk. WTF?

Dave seems to think it makes perfect sense so clearly he is more in tune with Joss's brain that me. I just thought it was strange and massively out of character. I dunno why really. I mean I had no issue with Willow getting involved with Tara, and there was masses of subtext in the Buffy/Faith storylines on the show, especially in Season 3. I can't explain why this felt wrong but it just did.

The aftermath was incredibly amusing though, and I loved Andrew being Lois to Willow's Superman *g*

Having read Joss's interview I'm not sure I can last the 40 issues he says he has in mind for this comic. I'm just not enjoying it.

Now I need to buy the next issue of Angel just to make me feel better. At least that comic kicks ass.

Speaking of comics

Have you managed to get hold of a copy of Watchmen yet? If necessary, I can and will mail my copy to you! So long as I get it back of course (do NOT leave it with the parents, I never got my copy of Soul Calibur 3 back when that happened).

Have just asked. Dave has never had a copy and Greg lost it. If you want to mail it to me I promise to take good care of it and I'll mail it back when I'm done (since all my upcoming trips mean I won't be able to visit Sheffield again any time soon)

Okie Dokie, e-mail me your full postal address and I'll send it to you as soon as I have the chance to visit the post office.

It was my favorite issue so far (probably because Drew wrote it). I want to see how it plays out.

Though I also prefer the Angel comic.

See, I love Drew and was really disappointed when I found out he wrote this. I'm not blaming him though, I bet the idea was Joss's. LOL! The rest of it was brilliantly written
ext_9390: My Phoebers! :D (BTVS: Xander (comic))

I had a similar reaction - manly because it was Buffy. It felt rather OOC to me. If it had been, say, Faith I wouldn't have blinked an eye but being it was Buffy it felt ... off somehow.

I can't quite put my finger on it ... I felt like it was manipulated, I guess. I'm really mixed on the comics - the whole Willow can fly thing also had me doing a WTF reaction. (Though the Superman dialogue in this one was kind of cute.)

Yeah, my definite problem was that it was Buffy

[livejournal.com profile] mskatej posted some thoughts that it was just fanboy wank material and I think she's right.

I had to go back a while to find this post--because I had to see what you rreaction to it was after I read it yesterday

ZOMG!

and

WTF!

What did they do to my Buffy?? I agree, the whole aftermath of her in bed was funny, but a kinda cheap joke in comparison to them suddenly making buffy hop in bed with someone who
1) female
2) subordinate--Buffy has been pretty clear in not being willing to cross those lines, i feel

Come on--can't the original scoobs get more creative with thier mates of choice than the mini-slayers? Xander, yes his is progressing kind of nicely (he is prob my favorite character in this comic, they've managed to keep him dorky and cool...). I hated the Willow/Kennedy thing--but its old material people. We have our gay powerful person dating a mini-slayer. Ugh.

Angel is definately better, from the 2 I've read. Just more interesting plot line (weird, but interesting).

argh.

Yeah, I've read 3 issues of Angel and it's already streets ahead of Buffy
