RL Update & TV Shows Watched 2023
Still here. Still alive. Spent 10 days up in Scotland visiting my parents for Christmas and it was fine. My sister was there for a couple of days so it was nice to see her. We went and met the lady who is making my sister's wedding cake (a friend of our mum's) and they talked ideas and she gave us some sample pieces of chocolate cake. That was nice.
I always find visiting my parents mildly stressful. They are both very conservative and while my mum knows not to air her opinions in front of me and my sister (both of us queer liberals) my dad doesn't. He always says he doesn't want to argue but what he actually means is he wants to say whatever he wants and we're not allowed to argue with him about it.
So, yeah, it's fine so long as we have other things to keep us occupied. We played a lot of board games and watched a lot of quiz shows and that was nice.
I treated myself to a copy of Disney Dreamlight Valley for my Switch as a Christmas present and that's basically been eating my time since I got back from Scotland. It's very much in the same vein as Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, only with Disney characters. I'm having a lot of fun.
In other news I posted the final part of my 16 chapter, 60k fic on New Year's Eve. I really wanted to get it done before the new year and I have two wonderful beta readers who kindly read the last two chapters over the holidays. It's by far the longest thing I've ever written and I am quite proud of that. Started it in Jan and finished it in December.
Title: Juxtaposition
Fandom: The Lost Tomb Reboot
Pairing: Wu Xie/Wang Pangzi/Zhang Qiling
Rating: Teen
Summary: Wu Xie doesn't think life can get much better than this. He gets to use his architecture degree to design buildings for a living and he gets to work with the love of his life who helps make his designs a reality. He's certainly not going to let something small like an attempted mugging disrupt his world. The mysterious man who saved him, on the other hand...
Aside from posting that I took a couple of weeks off from writing. I did start something while I was at my parents but I wasn't in the right headspace for it. Now that I'm heading back to work I'll go back to my daily writing sprints and get it finished.
But, anyway, we're into a new year now and with is comes a new list of things I've watched. I'm almost ashamed that this is the first thing on the list but here we go:
1. Vardy v Rooney: A Courtroom Drama - My housemate wanted to watch this because Michael Sheen is in it. I don't even have that excuse, although it's always nice to see him in things. IDK I wasn't obsessively following the court case when it happened, but my boss kept giving us updates because she found it highly entertaining. I think it was just something silly to focus on to distract us all from the shit that's going on in the world. Anyway, the cast were great and it was highly entertaining. I don't think we were supposed to laugh as much as we did but it was kind of ridiculous.
