Nashcon: Friday

[livejournal.com profile] sinnerforhire joined us late on Thursday so getting ready on Friday took some doing as there were four of us needing access to the bathroom for showering and whatnot. Managed to sleep until 7am so that was a marked improvement on the day before.

I wore...a dress! And it wasn't even a special occasion. LOL! I don't think there's any proper photos of it but I did twitpic one here

So once we were all ready we grabbed some breakfast and did another explore of the hotel for [livejournal.com profile] sinnerforhire while we waited for people to arrive for our big group lunch

Okay, some backstory. Holly brought a toy with her. His name is Gabriel-Jared named after Holly's faveourite character and given the added name because [livejournal.com profile] katie_f_thomas says he has a big head (I mean physically not ego) like Jared.

We spent a chunk of the plane trip trying to work out exactly what Gabriel-Jared is. I thought bear at first and Holly thought monkey and then I suggested mouse. Anyway, we joked we should ask Misha as a deciding factor and it sort of became a thing. We asked all the guests at the cocktail parties and, yes, the overwhelming consensus was mouse but it was still fun.

As we were wandering around on Friday I suggested we take some holiday snaps of Gabriel-Jared and it sort of became a thing. I have to say thanks to everyone who hung out with us at the weekend and didn't mind stopping to put Gabriel-Jared in various places to take pics of him.

So that's how we spent our morning

Some of these are like Where's Wally

Pineapple! For those Psych fans on my flist

Then it was time for lunch. I'd arranged (with super-awesome help from [livejournal.com profile] kriari for a group of us from [livejournal.com profile] nashcon to meet up for lunch. It was so much fun!

Initially I'd grouped us so I was sat with all my friends but in the end I decided to sit with the people I didn't know. Because that's what cons are all about, right? Making new friends.

Don't regret it for a moment. I met some absolutley lovely people!

Just after we ordered food [livejournal.com profile] lizajaneok and [livejournal.com profile] xenachakram12 arrived and there was much squeeing and glomping.

We had a lovely meal and then [livejournal.com profile] summerholt very kindly offered to drive us to a grocery store so I could buy some snacks and booze. The hotel restaurants were amazing but rather pricey.

So we had a group trip. It was [livejournal.com profile] summerholt , [livejournal.com profile] nightrider101 , [livejournal.com profile] malbryn , [livejournal.com profile] littlehollyleaf and me.

Brilliantly on the way I saw a car with a license plate SPN 452. We chuckled about it and then when we got closer we saw it was an Impala. A new Impala but still. There is NO WAY that person wasn't from the con, surely. Execept it pulled into the car park of a church. Maybe Dean was going to pray to Godstiel?

As you can see we bought lots of healthy things ;)

So after that we got back to the hotel, dumped our stuff and headed down for con registration. Lots of standing in line. YAY! We got there about an hour early and it STILL took 2 hours to get everything done. Plus my Jared and Misha photo ops weren't with the rest of my stuff so that took ages.

Once I was done I headed off to find [livejournal.com profile] lizajaneok and she was in line so I waited again with her so I could go and get some dinner with her. I am such a glutton for punishment ;)

Finally we were all done and a big group of us went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was YUMMY! I tried fruit iced tea and I actually kind of liked it.

After that it was karaoke time. Oh, god! Lisa and I had discussed this ages ago and we'd decided it would be fun to do a song as Random Acts so it would be me, her and Jenni

I have to say thanks to [livejournal.com profile] stellamaris99 who kindly registered us to sing because we were still eating dinner when karaoke started.

I headed back to my room, got changed and had a beer because, seriously, standing up on stage and singing THERE IS NOT ENOUGH ALCOHOL IN THE WORLD.

When I got to karaoke Lisa said she'd spoken to Matt (Cohen) already and he'd cleared us to sing whenever we were ready. I had another beer ;)

In the end it actually wasn't that bad at all. It was actually kind of fun. I couldn't really hear myself singing and the lights were so bright I couldn't really see anything anyway. I haven't seen any photos or video of us so I'm going to assume it was okay ;)

What did we sing? this *g* I don't know whether it was Matt or Richard's idea or both but they deliberately didn't announce the song we were singing for maximum effect. MWAHAHAHAHAHA!

And, very awesomely, we got a mention in an article about the con here

The karaoke was actually one of the most fun parts of the convention. I was planning on leaving once we'd sung but I ended up staying until it was over. Who needs sleep at a con anyway, right?

So I finally crashed at about 2am but it was all good.
