How it all happened

desi_derata who wanted to know how me and mrthursday got together
It involves a dragon, a unicorn, the quest for the Holy Grail in a spaceship and huge climatic battle between the forces of good and evil.
Alas my version is nowhere near as exciting but I'll try and liven it up as much as I can.
It all started in the summer of 2002. I was a lowly temp working for the MoD and sharing an office with a strange Somerset lad by the name of Tom. Tom was in need of someone to move into his house and since I was being driven insane living with my parents I put myself forward for the position.
So, one rather rainy June arrived (a Saturday I believe) and I trundled off to York to meet Tom in a little cafe called Cafe Nero. Tom had mentioned his friend Rob would be with him but I thought nothing more of it. I arrived and our eyes met across the crowded cafe.
"Hello." I said, in my usual articulate way.
Once the introductions were done with we made our way to the house. I had a quick look round and quite frankly a hole in the ground would have been better than my parents. I accepted the room and stayed around for tea. Rob was charming and funny and I left that day with a not unpleasant impression of him.
Came back to the house about a week later to sign the contract and Rob was there again. I began to wonder whether he came free with the house but he assured me this wasn't the case.
Then a couple of months after I moved in I came home from taking my sister to Uni to find my house FULL of people. Literally. And Rob was among them. I recall being in a foul mood and swearing a lot before locking myself in my room until eveyone bar Tom and Rob had gone.
Came downstairs and was presented with The Writer's Guide 2003. Rob said he'd bought it to say thank you for letting him stay. I was a little surprised by the gift and also very touched. Anyway, not really sure what happened but we ended up sitting and talking until 4am. I have NO idea what we talked about. All sorts as I recall. I just really enjoyed him company and couldn't bring myself to go to bed.
He left the next day and a few days later I got a comment in my LJ. Made me smile and from thereon the comments became more frequent. Then the e mails started and soon enough we were sending each other stuff pretty much every day.
I started dropping hints that maybe he should come visit again, using my Season 7 Buffy tapes as a bribe.
In the meantime, my friend Ros had persuaded me to go on a date with her friend James. He seemed nice enough so I agreed. BIG mistake. He was ok, really. But the problem was he wasn't Rob. After 2 dates I told James I just didn't feel anything for him and we went our seperate ways.
Rob finally got a date sorted for his next visit and it was nice. We watched Buffy, had another 4am chat and all was good. Went out for a meal with my friend Ros and told her that I had feelings for this friend of Tom's, steeling myself for yet another disappointment.
Rob left the next day and I spent the day at work utterly miserable. Came home that night and found an e mail from Rob asking me out. Read it about 3 times to make sure I wasn't seeing things. Phoned Ros and squealed down the phone at her and then e mail Rob back with my acceptance.
