He loves the way Lex’s skin turns a pale milky white in the dim light of the early mornings and marvels at how beautiful he is. Lex disagrees of course and insists that his money and power is what people find attractive about him.

Clark kisses him into silence every time they have this conversation.

The first time he wakes up and finds himself alone in bed he worries until he sees Lex sitting naked in front of the large bedroom window, allowing the soft light to bathe him with its warmth.

“I like to see the sun rise,” Lex tells him when Clark asks what he’s doing. “It makes me thankful for new starts.”

Clark smiles and understands. They wouldn’t be together without their decision for a new start.

This morning is like all the others. He wakes to an empty bed and sees Lex sitting by the window. This time he rises, crosses the room and stands behind Lex with an arm wrapped around him.

“Aren’t you cold?” He asks gently, stroking a hand over Lex’s smooth chest.

“I’m not now that you’re here,” Lex replies with a soft smile.

They stand there together, watching the sun make its slow ascent into the pink tinted sky, neither of them speaking because words weren’t needed.

“Come back to bed,” Clark whispers when it’s over. “Let’s celebrate the new day together.”

Lex smiles and nods.
