Uh...

Yes, I'm late to this

The first thing I did when I finished reading this was throw it across my desk. WTF?

Dave seems to think it makes perfect sense so clearly he is more in tune with Joss's brain that me. I just thought it was strange and massively out of character. I dunno why really. I mean I had no issue with Willow getting involved with Tara, and there was masses of subtext in the Buffy/Faith storylines on the show, especially in Season 3. I can't explain why this felt wrong but it just did.

The aftermath was incredibly amusing though, and I loved Andrew being Lois to Willow's Superman *g*

Having read Joss's interview I'm not sure I can last the 40 issues he says he has in mind for this comic. I'm just not enjoying it.

Now I need to buy the next issue of Angel just to make me feel better. At least that comic kicks ass.

I had a similar reaction - manly because it was Buffy. It felt rather OOC to me. If it had been, say, Faith I wouldn't have blinked an eye but being it was Buffy it felt ... off somehow.

I can't quite put my finger on it ... I felt like it was manipulated, I guess. I'm really mixed on the comics - the whole Willow can fly thing also had me doing a WTF reaction. (Though the Superman dialogue in this one was kind of cute.)

Yeah, my definite problem was that it was Buffy

[livejournal.com profile] mskatej posted some thoughts that it was just fanboy wank material and I think she's right.
