Phew!

Well, that wasn't too bad. I seem to have lost a lot of my confidence though. I don't know if it's because I'm older or because I nearly crashed my dad's car and I can still remember it. My instructor had to keep telling me to go faster because I was doing less than 10mph.

It's good though. I like my instructor a lot. He's really friendly and the same age as me. He told me that out of everyone he's taught only one person had to take their test more than twice so that's good and he's obviously not out to make money like the BSM guy was. In fact he told me it was cheaper to bulk book lessons and when I told him I couldn't afford it at the moment he told me just to pay him when I get paid. So today's lesson cost me nothing, well, I'll have to pay for it retrospectively but it's cool that I don't have to fork out until I have a bit more cash.

The lesson itseldf was mostly him showing me around the car and the basic stuff. I stalled on my first attempt but after that it was good. I drove around this housing estate a couple of times and I think it'll be better next week when I can get straight on with the actual driving. I was just starting to get used to it today when it was time for the lesson to end.

I was actually expecting to remember all the stuff from last time I learned but really I didn't. It was like a proper first lesson. I'm hoping, in time, things will start to click back into place but really my BSM instructor was crap. I think I learned more today than I did in all my other lessons. LOL.

I need a driving icon. Impala, Desoto, one of Lex's many cars, Batmobile. Anyone got anything?

I had an older dude (I was 16 at the time) with an accent. I really liked him. I honestly don't like driving, never have.

YAY!! Thanks!

I think liking your instructor makes a massive difference when you're learning

Good! I thought that was a better choice than this one "points" that involves crashing into something... "chuckles"

my driving instructor was amazing, she was so nice, and towards the end it used to be like going for a drive with a mate. I had three or four tests, i dont think that makes me a bad driver though, I just lacked confidence. I thin k thats the main reason teenage boys seem to pass so easily- bags of confidence- the older you get the more aware you are of the dangers f this big machine you have to control. Can be intimidating!

Sounds like you're doing just great! I used to love my lessons!

That's exactly it. I was so worried that I was going to hit something or lose control of the car that I didn't dare go fast. LOL. I'm hoping after a couple more lessons I'll feel a bit more at ease :)

I remember my Dad had me doing reverse figure of eights around a carpark before he would allow me to actually go onto the road.

I took three attempts at the test but I'm glad I did - I'm not the nervous driver I would have been if I passed the first, nor the stupid driver I would have been if I passed the second. On the down side, I would have passed it well first time if it wasn't for circumstances getting in the way.

Yeah, my dad got a bit carried away and had me driving way before I was ready.
